You have keep in mind that The Blackbird Diaries is directly inspired by the whole Nashville musician tribe. Stevie's record will have a different production esthetic. As Dave's album was recorded with a bunch of musicians that Martina Mcbride's husband who co-owns the Blackbird studio, put together for a week of recording. The musicians on Stevie's record that are confirmed are Waddy, Mike C, Steve Ferrone, Mick Fleetwood, Ricky Peterson, Lindsey B. along with Dave S. and probably violinist Anne Marie Calhoun. Stevie also enlisted Chris Lord-Alge to preside over the final mixing, not so subtly pushing aside Dave who mixed his own cd. Stevie is very much calling some shots and injecting her choice of musicians and trusted colleagues where she see's fit.

David Wild has written the songs are atmospheric. So If Dave understands Stevie as much as I think he does, he will set an ambience and mood that will enhance the Stevieness of the recordings. I'm quite intrigued with the possible outcomes that this collaboration represents as Dave Stewart is a very versatile and apt producer. I loved the work he did on the last great Sinead O' Connor record "Faith and Courage" or some of the songs on the last Eurythmics record such as "Beautiful Child" or I Saved The World Today". If some of these elements are on tap this will be a very magical record provided that Stevie also stepped up her game on the lyrical and singing aspects.

Thank you, Christopher. As always, level-headed, not crying that "The sky is falling!". Breath of fresh air.

Thank you for your insight. You've given me some much needed renewed hope for this album and that it won't be too much in the same vein of The Blackbird Diaries which is my biggest fear.

In a recent interview for Music & Musicians Magazine, Dave pointed out that as a producer, he liked to be influenced by the artist and not force his style on them:

"I'm often working with lots of different people at once - it could be Stevie or a soul singer or a young indie person - and I morph into their world. A lot of producers have a stamp. 'This is my world, you've come into it and you're going to sound like me with you on top." I'm the other way 'round. I'm like "I'm gonna sound like you but you might hear a bit of this."...So, you'll maybe hear 10 percent of me on another artist's album."

Christopher, Icouldn't agree more with everything you've said, particularly regarding Dave being a sympathetic producer. He wants this album to be "a Stevie record" and has stated as much during the last 12 months. Funnily enough, I have been thinking very much of his work on Sinead's "Faith & Courage" and also the production on "I've Saved The World Today" as potential reference points for some of Stevie's album. Imagine if he could elicit a vocal response out of Stevie like Annie's on "I've Tried Everything"? I don't necessarily mean a falsetto, but just the intensity alone would be fantastic. I've said this before and I'll say it again, whether this project succeeds or not rests squarely on Stevie's shoulders. Let's hope she puts her best hoof forward.

Now this I LOVE! Far superior to any of the snippets we've heard with Stevie...
I mean, I am really feeling this. Is this from The Blackbird Diaries?

Edit: It's very Pink Floyd-ish dontcha think?

No, it's not. The Blackbird Diaries does have more of a country feel, but that's what Dave was going for on that project. All I can say is - until he started working with Stevie I never would have thought I would have been a Dave Stewart fan. But, I like his work.

What else is new. Seriously, even the NYE pic - would a little COLOR kill her? Fahk, aye?

My speculation - who the hell knows how stable & good Dave's marriage is/was? Maybe Mrs. Stewart was f*cking around too. I don't care, but it's possible.

Well, at least we can rest easy knowing that Stevie will be on the cover. For all we knew, it could have been just artwork or a painting (although it will likely resemble a painting after retouching). Let's hope she is actually facing the camera this time.

Wonder what the photo shoot was for awhile back, on Santa Monica beach wasnt it?

Didnt we think that was for the CD cover? Maybe these are for the inside art work....or maybe them photos on the beach didn't come out good....or...

None the less, Goooooooo Stevie!!
