I love the demo and very much look forward to this song being on the album.

I don't have a problem with the demo, AC or not, and I hope it is arranged in a good way on the album, with good vocals. I do agree that it is is a bit of an issue that Stevie relied so much on Dave for cowriting on this project. With all the music she has in storage and her still strong solo writing abilities (as shown on SYW), I really think she could have given us a purely Stevie-written album and wowed us. But I'll take what she gives at this point in life.

Middle of the road adult contemporary trash. Even though it's only a 40 second snippet I would imagine the rest of the album will be of a similar ilk. I can only hope not.

I hate Dave's voice. Does not go with Stevies at all, overpowers it.

Default Disappointed

I have a feeling most Stevie fans on The Ledge will be quite disappointed in her new work. It's not going to be the Stevie you relished in the 80s. She at a totally different stage in her life, and I think TISL reflected that. I would expect this new CD to be Stevie today, and probably be only shades of who she was 20-25 years ago.

After all, I'm certainly not the same person I was when I bought Bella Donna and listened to it over and over and over. Are you?

I hope that I like it. I love Stevie and I have loved her music for 30+ years. I definitely don't want to be disappointed; time will tell.

I disagree, TISL did not reflect a new Stevie. She brought in old songs (Candlebright), love song ballads and rockers. Heck, she even sang about gin. Stevie stays true to herself all the time, if she continues to do that, the album will please lots of fans. We already know she's bringing in a vault or two of old songs. Old Stevie, so to speak.

Some complain about here going into AC territory. Well, she always has been there. You will hear Landslide, Gypsy, Sara, Dreams, Everyday, etc on AC radio all the time. The rock stations pick her rock cuts. Nothing much has ever changed in her style on each album. She is always true to herself and never really changes.

My only concern is her voice, that is the only aspect of Stevie that changes to me. Sometimes it is harder for me to get into her current voice as I find it shrill. Not always, but occasionally. One thing for sure, Stevie likes to rock and she likes to roll.

I personally very much enjoyed TISL. It was current and modern, but was easily recognizable as Stevie at the same time. The album was a huge progression from Street Angel, in my opinion. And I fully expect this new album to be different as well. With Stevie being in her 60s now, the one thing I don't expect her to do is put out a wild rocking album. But I expect that signature Stevie Nicks mysticism to remain. And that's precisely what I don't like about Everybody Loves You and Cheaper Than Free... they are not ethereal at all, but are boringly literal. I hear those two songs and think of the garbage Stevie has recorded in the past to be radio friendly: Unconditional Love, Every Day, etc. I'm just hoping there will be heaping helpings of Stevie airy-fairyness to balance out the middle-of-the-road BS. We'll see, I suppose

Unfortunately he's straight and he's not famous. He currently lives in Florida.

Oh well. Maybe if we make him listen to enough Stevie he can be converted.

I think someone should tweet Dave and ask him for one more short clip of how things have progressed. I'd settle for just another 40 second clip of how Everybody Loves You has progressed, or 40 seconds of a completely different song. I'm sure Stevie wouldn't mind parting with 40 seconds.

Everybody Loves You is not exciting, but it sounds like a solid song. The song tells a story, but it's in the same vein as Say You Will and Everyday. I sorta like it. I hope its BIGGER than those two songs though. They were pretty good but too small.

I'm liking the snippet of Cheaper than Free more. I like the lyrics a lot their voices. It would be a good companion song to Whiskey Lullabye. I think it has good chance of doing well on the country charts. It's just a really good solid song and she needs those.

Wow, I've been put in my place. Look, I never wanted to censor anyone and by all means feel free to state your opinions. There are Stevie songs I love and some I hate. And I've shared negative opinions before. And I sure as hell would hate it if everyone agreed with everyone all the time, especially me. I just think using words like "awful" and "sucks" when talking about another person and their work is just mean.

But then again, that's my opinion. And yes, I'm entitled to that too.

Writing songs, singing, and presenting them publicly is Stevie's job. Anyone who has a job will get performance reviews and feedback. Depending on the way a person carries out their job is the type of feedback that person can expect. Just because Stevie's a rich rockstar doesn't mean she gets a carte blanche of praise and adoration. She's accountable for putting out good work just as much as a factory worker, for instance.

Look at it this way. Stevie's been in the public eye for 40 years. She's said before that when she enters a room, she lets everyone know that she could totally take them down. She's not this fragile, delicate waif. She's a hardened Hollywood business woman who has had more insults thrown at her than any normal person. Us debating whether or not we like her lyrics or vocals on a message board is the least of her concerns. It's not like we're throwing rotten eggs at her at a concert. We're discussing new tracks, and sharing feelings.

I think us sharing our opinions, good or bad, is actually a GOOD THING for an artist. When Stevie released Street Angel and it didn't sell, and didn't get radio play, she knew she'd let herself and her fans down personally. She knew she had to do better and up her game. So next time out, she gave us a much, much better product... TISL. Who knows, with Dave Stewart being such a child of the internet age, maybe he's read the Ledge and has seen some of the comments. Maybe the feedback will reach Stevie, and maybe she'll up her game. And who wouldn't want Stevie's personal best? If just fawned over her 24/7 she'd have no reason to challenge herself creatively and record good material.

And that's MY two cents! And yes, we're all entitled to our own here thankfully!
