They didn't cancel, but I kept the kids home anyway - when it was time to leave, it was only 4 degrees out with a windchill of OMGRIDICULOUS. No way. Fortunately, we'll have access to a car for tomorrow morning, though.

I hope it's better in NYC for you! I moved to Missouri from PA last January, and it did not get this cold, so I figured I would be better off down here. But apparently not! When I lived in Michigan, my right hand was constantly cracked and bleeding at the knuckles. It was pretty awful - I was a normal modern American, save for one hand that was stuck in the Middle Ages, covered in chilblains. Hooray.

Long story short:

Something in my heart died last night, one more chip off an already broken heart.

As most of you know, I am from Midland, TX, but I moved to Austin last year to go to school. It never ceases to amaze me that while I am in Austin, all of my friends from Midland go on and on about how omg they miss me! And we need to hang out!!! Yet when I come to Midland, none of my friends hang out with so I end up spending the evening by myself in my mom's house. Why do I even come back here?

I don't know if Stevie would have been able to write these words when she was 15.

This same senario used to happen to me a long time ago. So many people say how much they miss you, will keep in touch and so on, but the fact is when you leave their City their lives go on and eventually you become a stranger. This is not true in everyones case, but what I've known to be true.

I know, John! Back during the summer, I was probably the most popular guy in my town. I hosted late night pool parties, that would last until dawn, with 25-30 people there, every night. I was like a rock star!(I didn't come up with that analogy, my friend did) Where are all of those friends, now? I don't know! I mean, I FB chat with some of them, but rarely see any of them now. WTF? I don't regret the summer long party(although you should have seen the liquor charges on my credit card!), because it was an awesome ride....but where are they now?

Will I do it all again, next summer? Almost for certain!

Ooo ooo! If I organise a flight can I come lol? I don't drink (most of the time hehe) and thus get drunk on very little, so I'll be a cheap guest

Sure! The more the merrier!
It's funny though, because I'm really sort of a loner. I started asking a couple of friends over, and then they started inviting people, and it just SNOWBALLED, into this giant, nightly party, that I barely had any control over. I kept my bedroom locked, and my music room locked, all the time, because there were usually 12 people or so, there, that I didn't even know. Finally, at the end of summer, one of the strangers stole some liquor, and I sort of kept a tighter lid on things, after that.
It was really strange for me, though, because like I said, I'm sort of a loner.....and to host parties like that, is just SO NOT ME. But I kind of liked it....it was like a vacation, from being myself!

Nicely nicely! I can relate to the whole "loner" thing. I'm very much a fan of my own company, but occasionally you do find yourself crawling up the wall and starting conversations with strangers because you're starved for attention lol. I don't know how you have the courage to let so many people into your personal space. I would be so uptight about people stealing/breaking/ruining something that I just wouldn't have fun. I'd be chasing after people eating food with a dust buster lol.

Hey, I wasn't driving, so I put my liver to the Christine McVie test!!!!

I'm not much of a smoker, although the summer did end, badly actually, with a "psychedelic bang"!
