John aka APerfectLie asked Dave recently if any of his duet partners from his upcoming album would be at his Nashville concert taping event, and he basically said there's a very strong possibility or something to that effect. He probably isn't announcing who will be there so he isn't flooded with 10,000 chiffonheads and nobody there to actually hear HIS music at HIS event.

I already got my grubby little fingers around my ticket...Didn't want to be kicking myself in the a** if some very special sweet darling chiffonhead goddness happened to show up But I'm going no matter what. Never been to Nashville and I'm sure I will enjoy Daves show either way. Anybody know about the Belcourt? General admission? If this has already been discussed could someone be a dear and direct me to the info ? Sorry but me we ol' brain is on autopilot this eve.

I literally live 2 blocks away from the Belcourt. It is one of Nashville's oldest and historic theatres. They mostly play Independent and Foreign films, but every once in awhile, they have a concert. General Admission at the venue means that no specific seat is reserved. You basically have to show up an hour or so early so that you can pick a good seat. Myself? I plan on being there about 2 hours before the doors open so that I can try for a front row seat.

Thanks for the info. I'll be there 2 hours and 15 minute early...to get that front row seat you mentioned. Muwahhhhhh. It's still a while away but between now and then maybe you, or some kind ledgiedoodle can give me some suggestions on where to stay and what to look at while I"m there...which won't be but a day.

Chris Lord Alge is a Mixing GOD! This is great news! I don't think Stevie would have it any other way!

Yea what was Lindsey's exact quote in Destiny Rules in a very dissatisfied tone: "Yeah Chris Lord Alge's thing is I come in at noon, I have it up and mixed by 4.. WHATS NEXT" So this should be mixed in a couple days because Stevie isn't battling with Lindsey, and she's not gonna lose a day to mix Monica this time. Although maybe I shouldn't jump the gun, as I speak we may be getting part 2 to the great mixing argument, with Dave Stewart taking Lindsye's spot in the sequel. Stevie is currently sitting a couch not budging to help look for ringing phone as Dave and Karen search.

Chris definitely wasn't right for Say You Will, but I think he did a gorgeous job with TISL

I think Say You Will was half great and half "meh" in terms of production. EVERYTHING was a little overdone for my taste but I think songs like "Thrown Down" and "Red Rover" turned out interesting.

But this is awesome news. I effing LOVE the majority of Trouble in Shangri-La (minus a few of those middle tracks) and I think we can reasonably expect something similar for this album. Not to jump the gun, but I have a good feeling.

Default C.l.a.

Oh for f*ck's sake...can't she work with some YOUNG TALENT??! She preaches about bringing up the next generation of singer/songwriters...what about the next generation of producers. CLA is so boring (in my absolutely correct opinion), plus he's practically a BRAND. Why, oh why is it impossible for these 50 and 60 year-olds to spread the wealth a bit. They had their chance. Get some fresh, young energy into the project, oh wait, too late...maybe on the album she makes when she's 73.

Really is the mixer gonna make THAT much of an impact on the album? And thats a question, not a statement. And on a somewhat unrelated note, why is mixing so difficult that it's the one thing Lindsey doesn't do himself. He has on past projects the past 30 years, played nearly all instruments at times, produced the album, engineered the album, spent a decade talking about an album, but he never learned how to mix an album. Is mixing such a specific skill, that only a select few out there are able to do it,l even someone with the vast multi level musical knowledge of Lindsey?

Good questions. The mixer might make a big difference or might not, but It certainly CAN make a difference. That's why there are people that make a living doing sound mixing. No Questions Asked is mixed horribly, for example, Love in Store is mixed wonderfully (again, in my completely perfect opinion). I guess what I object to is seeing the same names appearing over and over again. She's been using CLA for about 15-20 years now. Enough's enough. I'd love to see some hungry, 28 year old, talented, female mixer be given the job.

Why LB doesn't do the mixing could be for any number of reasons i suppose. Fatigue, may be one. Time, another. After listening to all of the teeny tiny parts being recorded, then engineering their sound to perfection, for 9- 12 months, he may just feel that he has no ability to mix them well without taking another 12 months. He may just want to hear finished mixes and give a quick yes or no.

Blast away.

I agree with you, which is surprising considering Lindsey's notorious need for control when his music is involved. I've wondered this too-- I think he must work very closely with his mixer or else he'd go crazy.
