Default Parenting with Zombie: The 3 AM Vomit Edition

Hey, kids! Here's a fun thing to do when your not-quite-ten-year-old wakes up yakking all over god and creation at 3 AM!

Step 1
Allow child to lay on couch near A/C, to help him feel better, because it's hot as balls and you read in an Important Medical Journal that cooling down when it's hot as balls and you are yakking all over god and creation is Very Helpful.

Step 2
Allow child to stare at TV, because you're nice like that.

Step 3
Allow child to turn up TV a little more when he asks because he can't quite hear it.

Step 4
Inform child the THIRD time he asks to turn the TV up a little more because he can't quite hear it that he has reached his quota of loudness, because it is 3 AM, and you read in another Important Medical Journal that even when you're yakking all over god and creation, 3 AM is still sleepy time and not party time.

Step 5
Seconds after child nods his understanding of this important truth, remember that the key to good parenting is to make sure all rules are clear and concise, so there is no wiggle room or confusion, and amend Step 4's statement with, "Unless you're me. Then 3 AM can be party time. Because I'm the mom. And I do what I want."

Step 6
Proceed to really hammer the point home by executing excellent impression of Brad Pitt dancing in Burn After Reading (see Appendix), which illustrates how you will damn well party if you want to at 3 AM, even if child can't.

Step 7
Set reminder on BlackBerry to find second job to save up for therapy child will no doubt require in just a few short years.

Step 8
?????

Step 9
PROFIT!

Appendix

That was hilarious, as usual.

I love that gif of Brad Pitt dancing. Can I use it as my siggy pic? Pretty please?

My JTIS-

I'm going to the Atlantic City Stevie show! Supahpumped. I'm going to go check out the thread in the Stevie forum, but are any chit-chatters going to be there?

Haha. I didn't make it, but it's all over the 'net, so have at it. I have one with Sylar's face pasted on, too.

I am still not entirely sure the care and feeding of small children should be entrusted to me, but as long as you're fine with them potentially growing up to be serial killers or psychic hotline operaters, bring it on.

And so jealous you're going to see Stevie. I wanna goooooooo.

I just narrowly avoided a complete nervous breakdown over my stupid glasses, so JTIS that I am now officially calling a moratorium on the year 2010. Regularly scheduled calendar activities will resume promptly on January 1, 2011.

It has been one stupid/horrible thing after another this year so far - Mom died! Favorite uncle died! Surprise move to Saint Louis! Stupid new house in STL cost WAY more than originally estimated to fix up to make habitable, leaving me stupid broke! Emergency dental surgery that cost enough that I was briefly concerned I might have to sell one or more of the children on the black market! Stove/oven STILL not fixed & apparently won't get fixed any time in the next century but I can't afford to just replace it myself! Lost 2 of my biggest & steadiest contracts! And just don't EVEN get me started on boys!

Then today, my glasses broke out of nowhere, so I can't see more than about 2 feet in front of my damn face. And apparently THIS is my snapping point? I don't know whether I should laugh at this or what - I will try it out later, in the bathroom, where the kids can't hear me just in case it comes out sounding...unhinged...and find out. I mean, it's funny that all of that other **** is so much worse than a pair of busted glasses but I can take all of that mostly in stride without batting an eye, right? RIGHT? RIGHT?

Argh.
way late to the party here, but i get where you are coming from. i can put up with a lot of really crazy ****, but when i was bitten by a (totally non-poisonous) spider 2 years ago, you would have thought the f*cking world had ended.

You can get discount tickets all over the place in Leicester Square. There's one "official" one but I got mine somewhere else and they were perfectly legit. Billy Elliot still sells well in the West End, so it may not be discounted, but I think they still have a rush, meaning you get there by a certain time and you can get the front row for super cheap. That's what I did when I was there.

I think I am one of the only people on the planet who doesn't get the hype of Phantom. It's fine but ehh.

Don't have my tixs yet, but I'm planning on going. Are people staying in AC for the night? If so, where?

If you've got money to waste, the Borgata has the most comfortable beds in the entire universe.

Maybe if I everget to London I'll try West End show.

I saw you're from New York. What borough are you from? I live way out in Long Island's edge of civilization, perhaps better known as Eastern Suffolk, but I do have to go to Queens a lot to see my annoying relatives (OK, it's just my grandma, aunt, uncle, cousin, and my uncle's border collie, but they're prett much the only good thing in Kew Gardens).

I live in Astoria. I don't venture too much further into Queens than the mall in Elmhurst, haha.

I think I know some people from school (that's Stony Brook, folks) that are from there, or was it Flushing? Funny thing is that I go to Queens all the time to see my family, and barely know it.

And is the mall in Elhurst Queens Center or is that in Rego Park?

I've had Sweet Girl stuck in my head all day and can't get it out. I'm not even a fan of that song. JTIS.

JTIS Shane MacGowan does an excellent donkey impression.

I love that. Nick freakin' Cave, Shane MacGowan, Chrissie Hynde, Glen Matlock, and Bobby Gillespie, all being awesome together? And though I am not really familiar with Paloma Faith, I love her vocals in this. Also, Johnny Depp looks homeless, as usual.
