I predict Stevie will win by a Landslide. No pun intended.
Joan Jett: What has she really done that's remarkable besides I love R&R? See no one really knows. She does not compare to Stevie although she was an innovator in her prime and is very rock and roll.
Debbie Harry: Solo, how can you even compare that to success of Stevie's albums?
Tina Turner: How many "rock" songs can you think of that Tina's done? I can think of 1, maybe 2 but the rest are pop/r&b. She is a legend in her own wright, but not a rock and roll legend.
Courtney Love: Hasn't been around long enough to be the queen.
Gwen Stefani: Is that a joke? I mean I love her and all as a pop star but she's far from rock and roll. Her roots are in ska music which could be considered a form of r&r but Holla Back Girl is not.
Liz Phair: Indie shmindie my ass. She has had way too little commercial success to hold this honor. In other words, she's never been a huge main-stream artist.
Patti Smith: Can't really say anything negative about her except she's simply not the star and/or cultural icon Stevie is.
Kim Gordon: Who??

People do know. Hell, I'm 16 and I know And I don't see Stevie playing guitar like Joan or setting up her own label to make a point

At 70 she still tours and remains an electrifying performer. Stevie makes a great princess of rock, but I just don't think her level of success matches Tina's.
I see your point, and I'm sure a lot of people will agree with you, but IMO Stevie is still the truer Queen of Rock.

Tina does one thing really well - that high-octave, shaking rock performance that can grab an audience (including me). That's her staple. In my opinion that & ticket sales are the best argument for Tina being Queen.

But unlike Tina, Stevie has written almost all of her own signature rock songs, and many of her famous and forgotten songs describe the life of a rocker. Stevie can truly claim the rock lyrics (and sometimes melodies) as her own, and for me, that counts for something. I don't see Tina quoted in yearbooks the way Stevie was and still sometimes is.

More importantly, while Tina has a compelling back story, Stevie is the archetype of the rocker biography: opening for the giants of the late '60s/early '70s California rock scene, dating the big names along with band mates, dealing with highly publicized drug dependencies & rehabs, seeing her career - and voice - and look - and looks - all experience highs and lows. That's what rocking is. Tina's road has been pretty drama-free for many years. (Good for her.)

And how many people bought Joan Jett's last album compared to TISL? Maybe we need to more clearly define "Queen of Rock". If we are talking straight rockin out guitar riffs screaming and **** I'd say Joan. But overall popularity and impact on society - Stevie hands down.

If you think Debbie isn't competition you must not really know who she is and what she has done in the music world.

Rock. Exactly. Stevie's music isn't really what I personally would define as rock, in all honesty. Meatloaf? Yeah, that's my rock.

Let's also consider these things:
Cultural impact on society
Writing ability
POPularity
Relevance today
Impact on younger artists/fashion/music
Record sales
Personal history/story

But remember, Stevie has always ROCKED harder in concert, than she does on record. Which probably allowed her to have all those Top 20 pop hits throughout her career.
And that's what I really admire about Stevie, her songwriting roots lean country, but she loves her R&B and everything in between, which has influenced her sound solo-wise to be so diverse and cover the spectrum, but she still remain a rock and roll bonafide.

Stevie and grammar. Not best friends

Two key examples:

"I should have turned away and ran"

Ran right back to elementary school.

We run. We ran. We have run.

"You may not be as strong as me"

Strong as I. You may not be as strong as I am.

Edit:

This has absolutely nothing to do with anything. I do think she should win the poll. Her grammar just drives me crazy.

Drownded! That was when the moon & you & the grammar police took her prisoner.

One could argue that grammar & popular music are akin to oil & vinegar in general.

While Stevie is my personal favorite, I love Debbie too and readily admit she's made more of an impact on the music industry and pop culture than Stevie.
