How cool are these updates & photo's on twitter, who would of imagined that only 6 months after the Unleashed tour ended, we now have concrete info that Stevie's CD is almost completed... I can guarantee that all of you fortunate folks in the States will be hearing some of her epic, wow, magic new material in her upcoming August shows. If only I had a spare $ 3000, I'd be joining you all, anyway enjoy!!!! :woohoo ONLY 4 weeks till she hits the stage, can't wait to see photo's & read all of your reviews

I do believe you're thinking of Rick Nowels, who produced the album Runaway Horses, featuring "Summer Rain". Rick Nowels co-produced Rock-A-Little and Rupert Hine produced TOSOTM.

She's spending real money in a real studio with real musicians. And with Mick Fleetwood in the mix somewhere, you know it's going to be back to basics, e.g., Wild Heart-era. And if Mike Campbell and Steve Ferrone are involved, perhaps it's not too far of a leap to assume that Benmont Tench got sucked into the project too, which would also seem to suggest a sound in the direction of BD and WH. Wow. I can see why Dave Stewart describes this recording as "epic;" one does not just work with so many legendary musicians, Miss Nicks notwithstanding, on a daily basis. I guess we will all wait to see what Dave's influence will be. I suspect that he gets her, which is the most important thing a producer can do. Otherwise, you end up with a crap album; Glyn Johns, anyone?

I can't help but wonder whether Stevie has a new muse or some kind of new-found urgency to work. It seems that she accomplished more in the first six months of 2010 than she has in the past six years put together. Between the Buddy Holly song(s), the Rumours tribute and her own album, she has been working feverishly, and just for shizz and giggles she's also going to do some live dates to boot. I wonder if she had some kind of epiphany or life-changing moment?
This is what I have suspected all along. Dave just sounded so overly positive in his tweets back in Feb & March that made me believe they completely hit it off personally and professionally and were on a roll towards something worthwhile. The only comment he made that left us all scratching our heads was "yeah we are making "album" in a very new way", which led some to think that Stevie was possibly recording using new & fast cheaper technology to offset expenses and possibly release an internet or EP album quickly.
But now, that all seems unlikely, and rightly so, cause when has Stevie ever done anything half-baked, even when the outcome is sometimes lacking that special Stevie majick, as I feel was the case with "Street Angel". Stevie's intentions are always that this may be the very last album I ever do, so it's going to be grand and that usually means $$$.

All of her solo recording have never been cheap fare. RAL at the time was one of the most expensive albums made when it was released in the mid 80's. She spent a ton on OSOTM, renting the fabulous dutch mansion, recording in London and L.A. She even mentioned in a Jim Ladd interview after "Street Angel" was released, expressing her frustration that even while she knew it wasn't right, She had already spent a ton of money on it and just had to let it go. And every single solo record is littered with the some of the most talented and expensive in demand studio musicians.

So I think Stevie's epiphany is no longer waiting for the recording industry to change (cause it's not) and knowing that now is the time to record something that she really enjoys and surround herself with people that admire and respect Stevie's special talent. She knew deep down, after the Unleashed tour, she did not want to go back into the studio with Lindsey, she was always the hold out, while Mick and Lindsey remained optimistic it could happen. They all went into SYW with the best of intentions of recording another fabulous Fleetwood Mac record, but Stevie was unhappy with the power struggles with Lindsey & the overall final outcome, and I don't blame her. When SYW was released I was gaga about the abundance of material we the fans received and excited to have some old demo's come to life, but stepping back from it 7 yrs. later, I definitely see it's faults & shortcomings as well as Lindsey's producing limitations. It would have probably been wise to have brought in another producer alongside that they trusted like Ken Caillat or someone else to balance things out. I feel TISL holds up as a more cohesive recording than SYW, and I for one have been thrilled Stevie decided it was time for another solo outing, and put FM on the backburner for now. I probably would feel differently if SYW were a masterpiece.

I couldn't agree with you any more, especially that last paragraph. I'm really hoping Stevie's displeasure with Say You Will means she'll create an album that's that much stronger because of it. I'd say it's safe to say due to her quick turnaround from the Unleashed tour to recording for this new project, Ms Nicks has something to say. It's such a relief she's FINALLY found her muse again.

Hell ya! David Wilde practically inferred this on his recent tweet "The result so far is powerful & deeply personal. There's blood on these tracks. Stevie definitely has something to say in a BIG WAY, and she has been holding it in since SYW came out and everything in between, with the lone exception of the now infamous interview last year where she didn't hold back and officially came out exclaiming she was less than happy with they way that record ended up.
I expect that Stevie will have some of her most pointed and unveiled lyrics of any record since the "fairytale castle wall's crashing down around her" tone of OSOTM, which in my opinion contains some of her best & most consistent lyrics in one record.

David Wild's tweet "There's blood on these tracks" got me more excited than anything else we've heard!!! STEVIE GIVE US BLOOD.

Wild also tweeted something along the lines how there is a lot of "ghosts and vampires on the album" (paraphrasing but I know he said ghosts and vampires) The vampire bit made me think of the New Orleans song that she sang on the Unleashed tour.

It is exciting, because the description sort of alleviates the Adult Contemporary fear that some had expressed.

Exactly!!!! I don't want to get my hopes up too far, but I'm so excited

Can't say a small part of me isn't hoping that the vampire song is an elaborate retelling of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse from the lens of Stevie/Mick/Lindsey instead of the New Orleans song, though

Ok guys so I haven't said a lot in regards to this new project which I know is rare for me but I finally just figured out why - I'm scared ****less! I know this sounds a little weird and I know I'm on the other side of the mirror (thanks Louie) but you see this is the first time since I became a Chiffonhead (2002) that Stevie has put out a solo album. Now I know she had new material on SYW but a)it was an FM album and b)I had only been hardcore for a year at that point. So much has changed since then - the tours, the Ledge, the Stevie friends, the music, Stevie Nicks 101 classes over and over. You get my point. So here are my fears: What if I don't connect with any of the new material? I know everything she's put out so well by now and have a relationship with those songs but what if I'm just not feeling it? Next, what if by some chance she does have a huge hit and goes mainstream again and we lose the Stevie we have now? What if she releases a demo I love and I hate what she's done to it? What if this is her "farewelll" solo album and she's retiring after this? Ok so I'm full of what if's and could go on and on and I know none of these things are likely to happen but my conclusion - as much as I can't wait for this album I hate change!

You just took the words out of my mouth! I became a fan circa 02, and was super excited for Say You Will. But like you said, that wasn't new solo Stevie. I am soooo scared for her to become mainstream, and I'm not sure why. Probably because all these people will be running around saying "omg I love Stevie! Her song Magic Man is like my favorite ever!" and I will facepalm. This is why I have expressed so much concern over adult contemporary crap, I'm just so scared about this new album, but still very excited. I still haven't even seen her or Fleetwood Mac live, I can't handle a farewell tour or album!

I'm glad you agree!I know I sound a little negative but honestly those are my misgivings. I also have a lot of positives to say, just can't think of any right now lol.

I've been a fan for 17 years. Let me describe to you the phases of getting new Stevie material:

1) You think it's the best material in the history of the world and universe

2) You start to see a few songs you don't like as much as the others

3) You get so burned out on listening to the music 3,652 times a day that you shelve the album for a while

4) You listen to the album some time later, and can FINALLY look at it a bit more objectively and assess it's strengths and weaknesses

This whole process takes a couple of years, by the way. To address your main worry: you'll love what you hear... at first.

I'm so excited, and I'm ready for this album to be out...tomorrow. And I don't think we have to worry about Stevie becoming so mainstream that everybody is like OMG I <3 STEVIE. If she couldn't get this reaction in 2001 with Everyday, I don't think she will now. Not that this is a problem. Give us songs like Fall From Grace, Space Needle, etc.

There is absolutely no way that Stevie will become "mainstream" again. She could have just recorded Thriller with Dave Stewart, and she still would be regarded as a "legacy artist." It's the age. There is simply no way of getting around the fact that she is almost old enough to receive Social Security checks. I predict the arc of her new album will pretty much follow the arcs of the recent albums from her peers- Bob Dylan, James Taylor, Neil Diamond, Tom Petty, etc.: Top 20 (or even Top 10) placing the first couple of weeks (as pre-orders get shipped out from Amazon and Wal Mart shoppers catch on), followed by a precipitous decline after about 4 weeks. The album will be off the charts within 8 weeks. She is not going to get mainstream radio airplay, and the AAA radio format has a very limited following. The other thing to consider is that Stevie has done a **** job of curating a younger fanbase over the past 10 years or so. Rather than trying to stay current/relevant via regular media exposure, music videos and new albums (e.g., Aerosmith), she has been largely reclusive and unwilling to release new material. Yes, the world obviously wants a new Stevie album, but most people under the age of 30 have simply never heard of her.
