I would be thrilled if she did a soft duet with Drake.

Dang. All this time I seriously just thought it was Stevie. I thought she was a few steps back from the microphone, with her arms up and a GDW shawl on...hiding from the stage light. The Dance era. I swear. I just looked closer now that it was mentioned.
I guess some pics can be seen more than one way. ![]() edit: It was a really cool Stevie pic, too! Now I can't see Stevie! Last edited by nailatixela; 06-07-2010 at 02:58 PM.. |

I know they sang "What About Love?" live once, but have they actually ever recorded something together?! If so, I have missed out!

Dave recently said that he and Stevie would resume work in early June so I'm supposing that the recording sessions have already commenced, which would allow most probably about six weeks for them to complete the sessions. If, however, the album is not finished by then, there is no reason they couldn't pick up where they left off at a later date (ie after Dave has completed his Nashville sessions). They've already done this so far - they worked from February to April and have resumed in June. Of course, the mixing and post production twiddling is a whole other story but I can't see why the recording couldn't be completed by mid July. |

.My fear of quality comes almost solely from the snippet of "Everybody Loves You." To me, Stevie's vocal sounded uninspired, and the whole thing had a very icky Adult Contemporary vibe to it. I'm not trying to be a Negative Nancy at all here... I want Stevie to do something amazing. I would LOVE to see her shake up her formula. I'm just not convinced she's doing it in the right way. But I'll more than gladly eat my own words if I turn out to be wrong... and I *DO* hope I'm wrong! |

But I know the adult contemporary vibe you're talking about, and I'm not really a fan of it either. She tried it with 'Everyday' on TISL kind of, and it sucked. Fall From Grace, on the other hand, rocked. Anyway, who knows.

I for one am absolutely thrilled to bits that Stevie is finally working with Dave after all these years. It saddened me that their brief exchange in 1984 didn't come to fruition but now there is a chance to make up for lost time.
We also need to consider the alternative - the only other producer she has mentioned working with in recent years is the god-awful David Foster when she spoke briefly on NBC Today in 2007 about possibly recording a standards/blues album with him. This of course could still happen at some stage, but in the meantime, we are getting original material instead of covers and an inspired (at least in my opinion) producer in Stewart as opposed to a schlocky, definitely middle-of-the-road, boardroom exectuive like Foster. Last year, Lindsey mentioned Dave Stewart, Daniel Lanois and Rick Rubin as possible candidates for co-producer of the proposed Fleetwood Mac album and whilst I approve of all three choices, I suspect Lanois and Rubin were his ideas rather than Stevie's. By all means, if she collaborated with either or both of them on her solo album, I would be chuffed but I do prefer the idea of her completing the project with one producer for the sake of continuity and consistency. |

Also in the years before TISL was released, there was very little info leaked (but much speculation amongst fans) as I recall, and I did have my eye's and ear's plugged in to the few mentions in interviews from Sheryl Crow while she was promoting the Globe Sessions that she had worked w/ Stevie on some Buckingham Nicks era songs & may resume when her schedule permits, a tiny mention in Us or People magazine in late 99' that Stevie was working with Dallas Austin after loving "Unpretty" by TLC & finally word in Sept. 2000, when Stevie staged her Arizona Heart Benefit, as reported in a Phoenix paper that recording on TISL was finished. All the press and leaks did not happen until the promotion machine was in full throttle starting with the official PR kick-off, which was an article & interview with Stevie in Billboard Magazine Feb. 2001 announcing the details of the recordings and official release date. Warners/Reprise started streaming the songs "Everyday" & "Planets of the Universe" on their official web site mid March, It was only after this that some fan's who had the promotional advance release in their hands, started leaking snippets of songs on fan boards like this staring late March through April just weeks before the official release. Then full blown promotion began in April, with the video release and tie in w. VH1 & the AOL interview etc. etc. That's a long way to go to demonstrate that Stevie is really not working any differently than what she has done before. & believe me, as a die hard fan from 81' until now I remember every gory detail. Stevie will not confirm details of the recordings until there is something more substantial to report, til' then we will have to rely on snippets from those working with her (as in the past) to get small information bites to speculate on ad-nauseum. ^^^ All good points. But obviously during Stevie's solo heyday from Bella Donna through say OSOTM especially, news about Stevie's forthcoming projects were more reported on in music & trade magazines such as Rolling Stone, Billboard & ICE etc. than they ever would be today. And only after Stevie's renaissance with "The Dance" success, did we get tidbit's of information reported in the press about TISL, mostly through Sheryl Crow late 1998 and a few thereafter. Yes, Stevie did mention in a few interviews during "The Dance" - "Enchanted" period, the title of her next solo project, and the inspiration from the O.J. trial, I only debate that we did not know exactly what was going on with TISL from 1998 through 2000, only speculation from the tidbit's of info. The only thing different is that Stevie was riding the success of "The Dance" there f0re much more anticipation was around regarding the new solo cd & we knew the title & the possible inclusion of Buckingham Nicks era songs. I never knew until early 2001 after the Billboard interview, that she even worked with John Shanks to finish up the recording sessions.
So let the speculation continue....It is fun, and Dave's tweets keeps our appetite wet in anticipation of the longest drought of new solo material from Stevie ever! |
