Default "Gold" lyrics

Any guesses as to what the ending lyrics are? Not the "people out there turning music into gold" but the stuff in between. Here's the lyrics transcribed in order and my offbeat guesses...

people out there turning music into gold, into gold
stevie: dusty?

people out there turning music into gold, into gold
john: rappin on the radio?

people out there turning music into gold, into gold
john: slippin out black gold?

people out there turning music into gold, into gold
stevie: dust and gold???

I always thought Stevie was singing, "I say!" or "I said!" where others are hearing "Dusty".

The first one I hear- " I said "
Next I hear-" Rockin' on the radio "
Then I hear- " Slippin' out the back door "
Lastly I hear- " Dusty gold "

You know until this post and for the past 30 years I've always thought Stevie was saying "Yes they...." as in "yes they are (turning music into gold)". But maybe it is dusty!!!

that is what he says. Back road and back door. as far as stevie, "dusty" oh i love that. like gold dust woman.
Anyway, THIS song is so dark and cool. it has a eerie quality and a driving beat. i love it!

Same here. I thought she was saying "Just say" or "Just say gold". That's what I hear.

We must honor ourselves for our high intelligence. I'm going to celebrate by slipping out some black gold! What are you going to do?
