Let me improve your quote, "Nothing tastes as good as a 21yo pie*e of ***!"
AND, btw, let me add, my doctor has been threatening me with cholesterol meds, for the past year. Went two weeks ago.....guess what? I don't NEED EM! Cholesterol has dropped 41 points, through weight loss only. Doctor said, "whatever you're doing, keep it up!"
So, you're a nurse, is there actually something wrong, with getting too thin?

I really shouldn't have been so negative in my response to your post. Better to be on the lighter end of normal weight than overweight, that's for sure. And my husband isn't skeleton skinny or anything, he's just not beefy.

Course, I like tall thin men who look like they're 17, so it's all good with me.
And too thin? I would only worry if you started obsessively watching every single thing you ate & freaked out if you gained 5 pounds. The fact that you kind of forgot about it & lost the rest of the weight is probably a good thing.

Sounds like you simply changed the way you live/eat & this is now your normal. Good for you. The lower cholesterol is awesome. As long as you're eating a pretty balanced diet, I personally don't see an issue.

Well, I was on vacation in August, and I just woke up one morning, and all of the sudden, I KNEW, that minute, that I was wasting my life, and that it was time to move on. The decision was that quick, like a light bulb being turned on!
I hope that you find that light bulb, as soon as you're ready!
You know....not that someone wouldn't/shouldn't/couldn't love you, just the way you are. For me, this weight loss has nothing to do with "them". F*** them! (I'm kidding). But it IS about me. Only me. Feeling better about myself.

Good for you, dude. Seriously.

The girls... well, both of them took after my husband. When he was a kid, he was BIG!!! He started slimming down when he was about 16/17. Samantha is 17, and she's starting to slim down. She was what she called "the fat kid" in elementary and junior high, but I think she looks great now. Sara is just like the both of them. She's a big girl for 11. I just measured her, and she's 5'1", and last dr. visit she weighed around 130. So, she's a big girl as well. But I know she'll grow into that, and be thin in a few years. What kills me is that I don't feed them junk, cook with grease and butter, or buy cookies and candy.
(I couldn't believe I just measured her at 5'1"!!! 2 more inches and she'll be as tall as me!)

Your girls looked normal size to me when I saw them.

sara has a bit of "baby fat" but I hate that it's even called that. Kids hear that & get obsessed over weight.

Paula, am I right to remember that you made a big effort to get in shape a few years ago and really kicked ass doing it? I haven't read this whole thread, so maybe you've even already talked about it here, but I'm sure people would be helped by your story if you wouldn't mind sharing it.
Or I've made all of that ^ up and you can ignore me

The Core Secrets workout did wonders to tone my body. I suppose any similar routine would do the same thing. You really only need 20-30 min 2 or 3 days a week in my experience.
No, you recall correctly.

I was between 10-20 pounds overweight pretty much since high school. I'd lose a few, gain it back eventually. Never was obsessed with my body or depressed about it or anything, but about 3 years ago I realized I just didn't feel good. Felt out of shape & weak. Didn't want to follow my parents down the road to obesity, high blood pressure & diabetes.
I started doing Weight Watchers - didn't join, just figured out the points system (well, copied it from a few friends that had joined) & followed it. Started doing 30-45 min of cardio 4-5 days a week, and weight/resistance exercises 2-3 times a week. Do most of my workouts in front of the TV, watching shows on the DVR.
I wanted to lose 15 pounds initially & ended up losing about 23. Reached an ideal weight for my height, and my cholesterol levels dropped too. I got so toned, I saw muscles I had never seen on my body in my life (literally!) After about 6 months it wasn't a weight loss program anymore, it became my normal life. Still is. Kept the weight off for over 2 years.
Now I'm back at it to lose the baby weight. Doing well so far - slow & steady wins the race. I'd like to get back into all the clothes I bought over those 2 years. Not too concerned with an exact number on the scale, but I figure about 10 more pounds should do it. If I drop it by my birthday in April, I'll be quite happy. it's been a lot easier than I thought it would be. WW really did make me change my lifestyle - it's NOT a diet anymore. Hasn't been for a long long time. This is just the way I eat now.
