Well, my take on the first verse was always like this. She uses "took" as in "wrote." You know, when you "take" notes. And the mountain is her path in the music industry, how she started off low and kept going up and up and up and eventually got a record deal with Lindsey to record Buckingham Nicks. Seeing her reflection was being optimistic, thinking "this is it, I've climbed the mountain and I'm gonna be famous," but then BN failed and they got dropped from the label...the landslide brought her down. Then basically the rest of the song is wondering if she WILL make it and if she's strong enough to stick out the bad times before the good times roll. I'm not disputing you ejof17, I just wanted to add a little to what you said.

Oh lord..almost 30 years later and now someone is like "what the hell is she talking about"? I am not knocking the question at all..don't get me wrong...i just think analyzing Stevie lyrics is very amusing.I never questioned it...i just figured,hey,she's Stevie..she's sees a mirrors in the sky,pale shadows of dragons...it's all good
