I've been saying that this entire tour. I believe she is wearing arm braces too. Everything points to Stevie dealing with arthritis. Also, it's probably more than just a coincidence that she befriended Reese Witherspoon's mom, Betty, who is an arthritis sufferer and very involved with the Tennesse Arthritis Foundation. The machine (Power Plate) Stevie has talked about that she used prior to going on tour to "get in shape" is also used for arthritis treatments.

As for the Reeboks, hey maybe she's had other options and had boots or shoes made and these just work best for her - or are the most comfortable. Stevie doesn't strike me as the type of performer who would intentionally screw up her well-crafted Margi Kent image to cruise a couple of hours onstage in some butt ugly tennis shoes for no good reason....

Poor Stevie If she really does have arthritis I feel terrible for her. I hope that she is able to find some kind of therapy that provides relief. I know that it's a very painful condition. If its true though, I wish she would just come out and say it. She's told us about things much more personal than that

Even if she had to stick with the reboks, she could make them work so much better. There's gotta be a way to achieve the same physical effect and yet have those things look a lot less like sneakers. And as an extra bonus, I think she should wear legwarmers over the boots she's been finishing shows in (the ankle high ones).

Well I remember that article in was it like May or June where she said she wasn't retiring? I think it was that article where she said the boots really do kill her feet bad...I think she said there that she was gonna start breaking out the sneaker boots and maybe pull the platforms out again at the end of the show. SYW she had hip trouble right? So ya know she's in pain and Mac shows are like an hour longer than solo shows and are more intense longer tours ......so I think the boots hit her harder for Mac shows~

I completely understand her not wanting to wear 6" platform heels at 61 yrs old, but these shoes are just unnecessary. They make comfortable shoes that would go with her outfits or she could have them custom made. She obviously REALLY BELIEVES these are "cute"

You know when she wears the actual legwarmers with them they don't look so bad, especially with a longer skirt. She did this in 2005, and it didn't look too bad.

Here's a pic:

Ya know I never thought about it until you said it, but these new arm coverings she wears are suspicious. AND I just went back through a bunch of the pics and you can definitely see a little bulge just below the elbow down to the wrist area...hmm makes sense now

^Wow, I'd never noticed that before. I'd often thought that she must get hot on stage dressed like that though. I guess now we might have a reason why she's always covered up.

I've always loved her in legwarmers so that would definitely work for me

I'm kinda worried about her now

It's possible that Stevie is wearing some compression sleeves on her legs and arms to help with circulation and fatigue. A lot of endurance athletes wear compression socks to help with blood circulation and performance, and they also help combat soreness after workouts and races. I would think wearing them during performances would provide the same type of benefits.

It's also possible that she needs to wear lace up shoes to accommodate custom orthotics. I agree that it's not the most fashionable footwear, but whatever works to keep her comfortable on stage.

I think you are totally right about the arm brace. I thought I even saw it up her sleeve at the last concert I attended. Also, I think one arm is worse than the other. That's why she does the one glove thing sometimes.

Now, looking at her move her arms and fingers, I don't necessarily see stiffness in those motions, but she's padded.

As for the boot, it certainly does have an orthopedic look to it.

Maybe, because I notice that Lindsey seems to grab her arm however he wants and she doesn't seem to be particularly in pain when he does it. So, maybe whatever she's got on isn't for pain necessarily.

This reminds me of one of those Discovery Channel shows where they discuss all the diseases Lincoln could have had. We need a doctor here, so we can better investigate Stevie's ailments.

If she has this arthritic disease, how good can it be good for her to tour so much every year? How can all that traveling -- & no matter how pampered you are, that entails a lot of walking -- be good for her condition? Too much walking -- to & from hotels, on & off planes, in & out of green rooms in all those arenas -- & constant change in air pressure, elevation, temperature, & all that. Up & down, up & down in an airplane. In & out of limousines, month after month, year after year.

If her health is deteriorating but she still wants to perform, she ought to park herself at Caesar's in Vegas for six weeks twice a year & play there. Or play 2 months in Vegas & then 2 months in Atlantic City. Something could be figured out, I'm sure, that would be easier on her old bones & joints.

You know during The Dance tour and also on The Today show, when they promoted SYW, Lindsey always had this moment when he grabbed Stevie and kind of burrowed his head into her neck. She really did not seem to like it. And I don't mean that she looked annoyed with Lindsey. She looked physically uncomfortable. Like she had to brace herself for the contact.

On the Today Show she was actually wearing a scarf at the time, but she still kind of hunched up her shoulders defensively as zeroed in.

I always wondered if she had neck join pain. But then during the SYW tour, for Don't Stop, she didn't have a problem throwing back her neck and holding the pose at the end of the song, so . . .
