oh wait, that was something else.
A lost Buckingham Nicks song, yes?

Seriously: Does anyone (Dani?) have any live Rhiannons where Stevie changes the lyrics to "Still your life is haunted"? I know I've heard it at least once, and she only did it a few times on the Rumors tour.

Isn't that Louisiana, 1978?

Rhiannon covinces me that I AM Stevie Nicks. Except not... but you get the idea.
"Honey, we ALL are!"

Anyway, I've come up with a second theory about what the song "Rhiannon" is about:

"It's a song about a REAL WELSH WITCH!"

No, but I have a live Rhiannon where she turns into a demon from hell and makes you cower in the corner covering your head and hoping she'll just let you live and then she starts moving so fast that your computer can't even keep up with it!

^^ I live for that. Ahhhhhhhh I was listening to Mobile on the way home from San Francisco tonight and there's something really magical about driving down hwy 1 at 1AM while BLARING Stevie's sultry "is that what you want?"

What about another theory? Rhiannon is about Barry. Think about these
lyrics from the unreleased Rumours tapes,

"Swinging through the vines, bananas on my mind..."

Probably. My Mac memory is kind of hit-and-miss now.

Wait - why do I not have this show? This is also the show where they play SOTM for the first time! And Stevie dedicates "Landslide" to J.C.! I need this show in my life. Anyone, anyone? Please

Already had this one uploaded, so merry Christmas!

And I probably will never post in any of these Let's talk about... threads. I can't even begin to describe how much even one of Stevie's songs means to me. Too complicated. Perhaps someday I will write a book about it or something. That is, when my music career takes off.

My new hero! Thanks so much

Also, thank you Dani for your wonderful insight on this amazing song! It was very interesting to read.

So I guess I'm the only one who prefers the concise, pitch-perfect, magical studio recording to the overwrought melisma-laden live performances?

NOPE! Personally it depends on what mood I'm in -
I really enjoy either.

It's just that the emotion isn't there. For ALL things Stevie, I'm all about the passion. "Rhiannon" BLEEDS it.

And Alexa-- you are so so welcome!

The thing is, you can't really go wrong with Rhiannon. From the versions with just Stevie's soft vocal and a piano...which are just absolutely breathtaking...to those that are hard core loud, emotional, passionate and all those in between...there is something about Stevie and this song that is just undefinable. I love how it has evolved through the years...its as though it has a life of its own.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I feel like our recordings of it so beautifully capture something about Stevie at that time, like photographs that can see something so much deeper.... the maturing, the sadness, the fiery youth, all of it. It will never cease to be totally all-encompassing and intriguing to me.
