Some of the 83 wails can be a little bland. Most of the RAL ones were very good. The wail changed during 2009 though. I like them now - nice and long. I was listeningo to (I think) the San Diego boot where the wail was so different than a month and a half ago when I saw them at Philly. Philly was also where she started streching out "draaaaaaagon" I think it's really great that the band bothers to change the song around during the tour.

I can't wait to hear your wails - I hope they are able to showcase the change in style.

Wow, it is like reliving the tour all over again. So far, I have in sequence...

Pittsburgh
St. Paul
Detroit
Washington DC
Boston

By doing them sequentially, I hope to capture in one file how it evolved and will also include the change in Dragon. Does anyone know when the wail really started to get longer? I just quickly went through my files and it seems to get longer by the 4/28 Atlanta show but really gets stylistically different by 5/8 Kansas City (well of the shows that got recorded anyway).

I might fool around with the Dragon part and the pale shadow/black widow to see what neat thing I can create.

Will keep you all posted on my progress.

I saw them both times at Mohegan Sun but the March wail was wayyyyyy better than the June one.

Hi Everyone! Wow, this is taking a little longer than I expected. (well, did not have time this past weekend to dedicate to this, but back on track).

So far, I have added these wails from the following shows:
3/14
3/16
3/21
3/25
3/26
4/15
4/17
4/18
4/20
4/22
4/23
4/25
4/28

Some are kind of muddy sounding but kept them in anyway since I had the file.
This is actually going to be somewhat lengthy and I am sure only die hard fans like us would really appreciate hearing the same wail over and over again, but as we all know, it does differ from night to night.

I have done this so many times now, I can almost select the wail right from the wave signature (plus, it is approx. the same time within the song from night to night).

This sounds like a very cool project!! I can't wait to hear the finished product.
I looooove to get all the shows from a tour and just listen to how each song is sung differently each night! It's fascinating to me.

Keep up the good work Sandy. I am sure it is a pain to go through file after file and take out the wail.

Thanks for your support in doing this. It really is interesting to me how really different the wail gets as the tour progresses. I just added 5/8 Kansas City and it has a different feel to it.

Can someone teach me how to take out portions of a track? I only know how to do it with cassettes.

For digital files, you can use a program to load in your file and a lot of it is just copy and paste into a new project/file. This site has a free download. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

I use Sonic Foundry Sound Forge.

Thank you, I'll have to look into this. I have recently downloaded two very long dance mixes and one contains a remix of Edge of 17 and another contains a remix of Brown Eyes. If I can't do it maybe you or someone else will want to?
