The most delicious thing about this is that they appear to be RAL tour clips, though there may be some WH clips in there too. But I think I know a RAL when I hear one, and I loved this nutty clip. I'm not hearing a lot of what I think is GDW here, mostly EO17, ICW, HSML, Rhiannon. If anyone wants to take David up on his challenge of ID'ing the shows these clips came from, I'd sure be interested.
00:03- 00:07- she goes "whoah! "WHOAHHHHH!!!" talk about classic whacked-out Stevie bellowing. Amazing. She put all she had into those EO17's back then. She's like frantic in her delivery! Why doesn't she still say "whoah", "baby" and "well" like that anymore?
00:08- 00:12- she's bleating like a lamb. Was this the vibrato that sent her to Betty Ford? Fantastic
00:16- 00:19- WTF? I'm not kidding, WTF????
00:22- 00:28- she threw in some R&B style sassin' into her 'Rhiannon'. Funky!
00:33- 00:40- I didn't know she ever did the ICW bridge on stage. All the clips I've ever heard feature a long, trippy but awkward synth solo without the yodeling that Stevie did on the recorded version. I would sacrifice my firstborn if I could get a soundboard of this hot mess in it's entirety.
00:41- 00:45- she's channelling Yoko or Bjork here. It actually made me a little uncomfortable in it's weirdness.
00:46- 00:57- from the 'Red Rocks' video, right? But, is this how it sounded live on stage, or is this how it sounded after the doctoring?
I hate to sound like a broken record. Messy, sloppy and downright scary as the RAL tour shows might sound, it's such power and fury. It's drama, it's like performance art. It's heaven to my ears. Why oh why did it ever have to stop?
