It's a pretty easy mistake to make when people are only referred to by first names: Cher, Madonna, Mariah, Beyonce . . . "Stevie." 'Little' Stevie Wonder has had 30 top ten hits, and 21 Grammy Awards. Stevie Wonder, although blind, has a special insight on what it was to perform his entire life as a singer/songwriter. Aside from Fleetwood Mac fans, "Stevie" could only mean one person in conjunction with Michael Jackson.

I don't know how in the world anyone - let alone a journalist - could confuse Stevie Nicks and Stevie Wonder... Even so, it's Michael Jackson - the way this thing has been trending, if you're a performer, it's almost a certainty that you're black.

Frankly, I'm glad she's not performing. Though she would likely sing Landslide and sell a couple thousand records, it's not her audience and he's not her type of person, in my opinion.

I guess I missed that one. I was already recording it, since I'm in and out around here, and really wanted to see it. I'm still in disbelief over the whole thing. I just saw Mariah Carey. It's got to be hard performing at this without getting emotional during the performance, and Mariah looked like she was getting there. It's hard to sing with a lump in your throat.

I dont think she;d be singing one of her songs. Since its a memorial for Michael and so far everyone's been singing a Michael song.

All I can say is what an incredibly beautiful service that all was. I cried the entire service as it all tore my heart out, and when Paris, got up at the very end and said what a wonderful Dad he was, I reeeeeeeeally lost it.. There wasn't a dry eye anywhere at that point.. He will be greatly missed for sure..

Hugs,

Arlene

Ok, though anyone could be invited to perform, I don't think Stevie should be one of them. She was not one of his friends, and they not even shared music styles. I would think in Lionel Ritchie, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Quincy Jones, some of the USAforAfrica singers, or even Slash or Van Halen who played with him. But Stevie Nicks? Maybe there is something I didn't know, but I guess they (M&S) never shared anything, except the Clinton ceremony, though that is not enough.

I was watching the whole ceremony since 7am LA time and it was indeed an incredible beautiful quiet service throughout and from the start to the end this was the ceremony that Michael, the Jackson family and the fans deserved. I was never a Michael fan but I grew up with his music so this is a little part of my life. Well, but at the very end as Michael's little daughter Paris cried into the micro I had to leave the room crying myself because I couldn't stand it. No matter how Michael was to the public and how the public judged about him...I'm sure that he was the light for his children and I'm soo sorry for them that they've lost their daddy. This is something you can't replace.

Oh good, I am not the only one that got excited there for a moment. For a brief moment I thought it was Stevie.

I only got to see snippets of the event today as I was at work, but from what I saw, it was well done and respectful. I heard the crowd outside the center was also very good.
His music was a big part of my life growing up as a teenager in the 80's so he will be missed. There is something that makes you dance when you hear Billy Jean or Thriller just like hearing Stand Back or GDW or The Chain ... pure magic and pure talent.

I cried today and said a little prayer for Michael to rest in peace.

I too heard Paris on the radio and got a lump in my throat. No child should lose their parent that early in life. So very sad.

I was thinking the same thing at first, because it wasn't really clear, until she stood up and moved across the stage and I could see it definitely wasn't Stevie.
