You know what's funny? If I asked my chocolate friend for her top 80's hits, there would be some waaaaaaaay different songs on there, songs i haven't heard of, and I know, cause we've talked about it! Although i also know that she loves "Take on Me" and "Sister Christian"....food for thought....

OH, and i just remembered Terence Trent D'Arby's album was very big around the time of Fast Car. He was actually pretty good, I liked that album..Oh, and that beautiful, beautiful song by Sinead that I still love to sing, Off Lion & Cobra? "I can see to many mouths o-pen to many eyes closed ears closed not enough minds open too many legs open tell me, tell me dooooooo....Why isn't it why why, I don't see eyes, why why..."

Tiffany actually turned out to be better than Gibson in my opinion. All one has to do is listen to her last 3 CDs. Tiff's got talent.

I LOVE the 80's, and picking favs, well I feel like I just kicked a puppy be leaving many another great 80's tunes off of list. I enjoy the REALLY one-off artists, where like even the whole album was "eh" but they had like one kick ass song.
I actually found that Planet P cd recently. Was surprised it was on cd. They are actually a band, song, that can still stand up today. Not so pidgeon-holed in sound. Around that same time was another song, Major Tom, by Peter Schilling, same theme. GD GREAT SONG!
Also, hmmm, DAMN, how can I not add Pop Music by M (or is it M People), omg, may I please have 11????? lol

As for albums...entire albums of great 80's stuff, I dunno, there are a few that are in my general top 10 ever. 1 being Talking Heads, Stop Making Sense.

As Amber pointed out, Sinead O'Connor's Lion & The Cobra, is still a phenomenal record, to this day. Remember when she first came out?! Damn. lol Shame she's off the general masses radar as influential and amazing. I adore her (well, her music) even now.

Also Kate Bush's Hounds Of Love, but I thought that was late 70's. Can't recall, and can't find cd. It's been missing for about a month =0(

Hounds Of Love is 1985. Definitely an 80s album.

Of course I am totally blanking out now that I am trying to compile a list. These are in no order, except for #1. There are SO many songs that strongly remind me of that time period, but I don't necessarily like them. I do like the ones listed:
