most of this whole frickin thread makes me wonder why many of you call yourself Fleetwood Mac fans. They are all 60 for God's sake. They cannot do cartwheels on stage anymore. If you dont like it, dont go see them and quit trying to bring the rest of us down with your constant negativity. Geez...it is OLD!!

I was there too David...Tiff gave me her floor seat the day of the show when she was able to get front row. Good show, but they were much better in Irvine the following summer.

Well, actually I don't know. Lindsey can hold his own against some younger guitar players, I dare say. I mean, he can really move across that stage, well, no cartwheels, but he can really move. All his sweat can attest to this.

Now Stevie, I don't really expect her to; I think she's seen her better days. With the hip problems & those boots, I'm surprised that she can make it from one side of the stage to the other. And she still twirls; maybe not as many rotations though as she used to.

Good show, but they were much better in Irvine the following summer.

How does one manage to fall asleep at such a concert? Were you ill? I could understand maybe getting bored at some moments, but actually nodding off at such a loud, booming show with all those people screaming? I couldn't imagine it. But anything can happen...my best friend fell asleep at Bob Dylan's concert about 15 minutes in. She understood nothing he was saying/singing so she figured there was no other choice.

You know, I want to be excited about music, but I can't take the manufactured drama anymore. I really hated it in 1997, but it was cool seeing the gang back together, and Christine was still there.

My fandom basically retired with Christine, at least as far as this incarnation of Fleetwood Mac is concerned. I saw the last tour a few times, and enjoyed the shows well enough. A lot has changed for me personally since those shows, and I now find myself in a situation where I just can't get excited over a stale set. BTW, this rule also applies to Dave Mason. I saw him last year (first time as a solo artist), and he did about what I thought he'd do, but at least it was a free show.

Now, I'd totally go see Bob Welch, Jeremy Spencer, Peter Green, Billy Burnette, Bekka Bramlett, or Rick Vito/Mick Fleetwood's Blues Band. In a heartbeat. But the Lindsey-Stevie show just isn't for me anymore.

In fact, I suspect such a dynamic scares the hell out of them. You don't have to wonder if it was live, or was it Memorex at a Steve Winwood show. With some songs (i.e. "Go Insane" on the current tour or "Trouble" and "Holiday Road" from Lindsey's live DVD), that's obviously not true. I don't enjoy that.

I'd go see the "current" Fleetwood Mac if they added Steve Winwood. If they put him in the band, and he made them cut out Brett, Neal, and the backing vocalists, and made it a working band that didn't sound perfectly like the records, and made them work their asses off nightly to put on a killer show, I'd totally go see that. That's what made the Mac great in the first place. My favorite bootlegs are from the '75-'76 era, when they were still hungry. They made a concious effort to own the crowds, and it paid off. Anyway, it worked out really well the last time they had a keyboard player from Birmingham.

Every song has improv...

he did a version of Talking Back to the Night w/ a mandolin
he plays his own bass pedals while singing and hammering the keys of the B3

he gets up and plays electric guitar on some Blind Faith tunes...

he covers Spencer Davis...

he covers Traffic....

it's worth the errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr 50 bucks for my 5th row seat (now that's something to pay money for in my opinion) not some old worn out soap opera...

Personally, I don't regret not going to see them at The Palace here in Mi. I don't harbor any ill wills either. But after paying alot to see Stevie the last 2 yrs for shows....that well I wish could've been done a little bit different. Too much was staged for me. I'd also rather hear her own songs not covers but to each his or her own. I paid alot & well she came back to the Motor City Casino too & I passed on that show too. I'll always love there music & when I did see Mac the 3 times live (90/97/03) I'll always cherish it. I do think with Christine it was a more cohesive band.
Anyway, I was happy to read everyone's reviews of the shows and the pictures and see video put up. Plus I know I can get cds/dvds of shows (the Mi one too) so I won't miss much & I still have my $$ too. That makes me happy. I'm happy that everyone that went has had a great time. I don't think if you go or don't go it doesn't make you any less of a fan. This isn't a great time right now & I still think they (& many other artists) are charging too much for there tickets right now. (Eagles too thats why I didn't see them here either). So I guess if I boycott anything its the high prices not so much the 'band' per say. That could be a whole another story...set list etc. Which I don't really want to rehash right now. Anyway, so I don't regret not going. Its all good its only a concert & well if its there last here than thats the way it is. Life goes on even if they stop performing. I don't think its negative to say that it is what it is and life doesn't stop when your favorite artist or artists don't sing or perform or record anymore. You just find other things to be interested in or other artists. You always have there music to go back to so to speak. Anyway, thats my 2 cents....no offence anyone....

That's why I was able to go see Boston Spaceships (basically, Guided by Voices) five times in the fall. Their prices were $15, which makes going to a lot of shows possible. Obviously, they're not playing to packed arenas, but the band was great, the sets weren't all the same, and the crowd was a lot of fun. For me, those shows were events.

That breathtakingly beautiful red dress… I thought I must GO… But I knew I wouldn’t, I couldn’t. I was proving a point to myself and to the band. I was not going to support the unleashed era; I just couldn’t force myself to do it. They have disappointed me. Yet I find myself in a blue mood… I’m already regretting it and they haven’t even gotten to dreams yet…

Anyway I guess I’m sad that I’m sitting here when I could have been sitting listening to one of the greatest rock and roll bands ever.

Did anyone else boycott and then regret it later?

I don't blame you one bit. The show in my area hasn't even come yet (San Jose, CA, May 21 or 22) and I'm firm in the fact that I'm not going. No new material, no new CD on the way, I'm very disappointed. Of all the bands I love, FM is number 1. First saw them in '87 on the "Tango" tour and it blew my mind!! Saw them again on "The Dance" tour and again I was blown away. Just could not afford seats to "Say You Will" so I didn't go, not from a boycott standpoint, it was totally financial! If I'd had the money I would have gone. So, I bought the live CD and DVD and have watched it multiple times. I was dissappointed with the CD also since it had so many tracks that had been done on live CD's before. Not much new or interesting beyond "Eyes of the World", that tour's version of "Stand Back" and the live version of "Come". The rest was old hat. Been there, seen that. This tour promises more of the same, with a few little gems dusted off. Hardly "Unleashed", as I've said on other threads here. I'm honestly more excited about the Mick Fleetwood Blues Band! Bought the UK version of "Blue Again" and haven't stopped playing it since it showed up!!! I absolutely love it!! If FM stops touring, if this really is it, I'm hoping and praying that Mick keeps going with his blues band with Rick and drums until he drops!!!

This tour is too expensive for this economy, no matter how much I love the Mac. I just can't do it. I'm sorry. I'm waiting for Rick, Mick, Lenny and Mark to come to the Bay Area and I will gladly shell out for that show. Hate me if you will, but at least I'm being honest!!!! Give me new material and something new to see and I'm all over it. Charge me an arm and a leg and give me the same old set, not gonna happen.
