For some reason, I never really heard the whole story about Silver Springs. I always thought that she asked Mick for the song for Timespace and he just said no to be a b*****d, but now it seems that he wanted the Fleetwood Mac song for the Fleetwood Mac box set. That makes sense and maybe she was a little wrong for getting so mad at him for that.

Hope I didn't start another fight!

Yes. Mick was well within his right, and Stevie was completely unreasonable with her anger over the whole thing. Nothing stopped her from re-recording the song if she so desperately wanted it on Timespace.

Her voice had significantly changed from the time that it was originally recorded and the way her voice sounded by the Timespace era. And since Mick had booted SS off of Rumours the least he could have done was to let her have it for TS. Songs frequently do appear in more than one greatest hits package as we all know and it would have done no harm for SS to be on both the FM gift set and TS.

I kind of agree, but I am sure it was complicated given that FM produced it and FM played on it. Moreover, if she had any reservations about her voice having changed, etc. - - that was the voice used in The Dance, and The Dance version was in a killer voice.

I guess everything happens for a reason. I mean had Mick not pissed La Nicks off, La Nicks may not have insisted on doing SS for The Dance, assuming she did.

Please point me in the direction of these articles/mentions. Like I said, I've been here a while & have read damn near all of them, and I don't recall reading that many, at least not recently. It may seem that there are tons because we fans are constantly scouring the media for any Stevie mentions & posting them here, but in the grand scheme of things? I dunno about that. And what "top designers" have named her as an influence? Hilfigger going through her closet 10 years ago isn't enough to make me think that Stevie herself has much of an influence in fashion today.

I never disagreed with you on any of those points.

To be fair Paula, I agree with you that Stevie has lost much of her relevance but that said, Anna Sui as recently as this year for her fall collection still cited Stevie as an inspiration. And I read last year Tom Ford talking about how much he loves Stevie's look. She was also on NME's cool list last week, which is one of the most influential music mags here in the UK, which is pretty impressive. It is for the 70s Stevie, the nostalgic image of when she was most popular though rather than how she is today, but she's more relevant that Pat Benatar for sure.

I'm not saying that nobody cites her as an influence anymore, but to say she's inspired"many top designers" or that she's mentioned in "every fashion magazine" is a bit of a reach IMO.

And again - I agree that Stevie is more relevant than Pat Benatar (poor Pat ) but I still don't think it's realistic to think that either of them is really all that relevant currently. No matter how much I want it to be the case, I just don't think it is. People still roll their eyes when Stevie is mentioned, and people still don't know who I'm talking about when I mention her name, and people still seem surprised & say "she still tours?" when I mention the shows I've seen. She's on our radar because we're fans & we are starved for any tidbit of info about her.

It's because of my relevance on The Ledge and my totally humble nature

Good job.
I agree with you there. I just wonder who you (and this is not any attempt to be snide, Paula i love u.) but who you consider to be deemed as "relevant". I know you posted the literal meaning afew pages back, but any time i try to think of anyone who is, i come up with a blank. There just really seems to be a lack of any good celebs now a days.

I'd argue Britany Spears. Womanizer was a number one hot and has been in the top ten for seven weeks - all before the album drops next week or so. She also has a 90 minute special this week on MTV. She also will get a huge press junket when the album drops. Expect her on Oprah, The View, the Tomight Show, Letterman, etc. I am not a huge fan of her's, but she seemingly has got her shiitte back together and is highly relevant once again in the music industry. Note - she has always been relevant on the tabloids.

ahh, so meaning relevant in the sense that shes everywhere. Personally i think shes a twit. Spoiled and crazy with too much sense of entitlement. Sure she breathes her way through some catchy jams. (that some top producer cooked up for her)all the while sexin it up with that "i grew-up wanting to be madonna" conviction but in no way do i think shes "interesting". She really hasn't CONTRIBUTED. What will she be remembered for? wearing a school-girl outfit? shaving her head? There really isnt any intrigue really. Kinda like Paris Hilton. I love that one song "nothing in this world" i think its called, and am every now and then on my most board day im LIGHTLY amused by her mtv show, but REALLY? REALLY? is this the caliber of Celebrity that we have now? Is this the best we can do? Fake tanned girls being "sexy" and "fabulous" and that's whats considered Relevant? that scares and depresses me. Makes me wonder who will be the relevant celebs ten years from now, what will they have to do show up in a studio in between starbucks runs, then cough, sneeze and then go be "fabulous". and people will think WOW. They are amazing. Definitely relevant. Relevant to what? to Who? Good lord thats depressing.

Default "Sometimes It's a Bitch"

This is a question referring to the article that was posted, but NOT about the abortions, because I have no business commenting on what people choose to do with the contents of uteruses not my own.

I've heard it many times that she was unhappy about having to sing "Sometimes It's a Bitch," but the stuff she says in that article about the fans not being receptive - I was too young when the song was released, so I don't have any firsthand knowledge - were fans really that upset about it?

Obviously, Stevie was upset about it - but I am curious about the fan reaction when the song was released.

I, too, think it is rather pathetic that the prepacked star is the way music has gone in terms of relevance. But, that has been happening since the birth of Rock and Roll. The Supremes are a good example of that. I love The Supremes, but there is little depth in their music as opposed to Joni Mitchell, Dylan, etc.

So, I guess to each their own.
