Thumbs up thanks New York!

I loved reading all of your thoughts about last night's show... I've been to many Stevie concerts and this ranks as one of the best!!

First of all, loved the venue - surrounded by the water... I ended up in the second tier, and made my way to the back row - and had the most amazing view. Directly in front of the center stage, with the bay to my left and the Atlantic ocean to my right. I thought it was cool that many boats were anchored near the concert - I guess they were going to enjoy listening to Stevie on the water.

Stevie and her band were on Fire!! I thought Atlantic City was hot,.. last night was the first time I've welled up at a Stevie show in a long time.. I think it was a combination of the amazing adoring crowd (New York should be proud), Stevie's warmth, humor, and heartfelt vocals, and the fact that my girl is getting older and this will probably be the last time I see her solo for a long time.. I really can't even put down in words how much last night's show meant to me..

With the exception of Crash into Me, I truly loved listening to Stevie sing these songs for the millionth time.. Sorcerer has become one of favorites - and I loved how she called herself the "Old Gold Dust Woman." Newyawka is right - Stevie treated us with an exceptional Gold Dust Woman... and boy did my heart jump when I heard the first chords of How Still My Love. Knowing that it was dropped at the last 2 shows, I was a bit nervous they wouldn't play it, but the adoring crowd was rewarded - her and the band nailed it! Love her sensual playfulness at the end and she exits off stage..

I also thought it was interesting that alcohol was not sold at the venue - unless you were a VIP. I think this is one of the only concerts ever that I didn't have to deal with any obnoxious drunks.. it was actually really cool.. Although it was a warm and balmy night and a cold beer would have been nice. But me and my 3 Vitamin water buzz had one of the best times at a show ever!

Few other comments as they come to my mind -

I liked the bright white lights that went on and off as they were synced with the ladies ooh...ooh... ooh.. during Edge. Nice effect.

The red cape is damn sexy - much better than the black with dots Stand Back cape

Her vocal ending to "Outside the Rain" as it merges into Dreams was one of the best I've heard since the Wild Heart..

About Crash. I think there is some nice guitar playing in the song, but Stevie's voice seemed a bit too loud and harsh for the way the band was playing this song. I think there was some trouble with the sound mixing her voice on this song. Still don't care for it, but if her vocals were a bit softer, it might sound better.

And can I say that the acoustics at this place were amazing - at least where I was standing.

And finally, a lady come over to me after Edge and said that she enjoyed watching me enjoy the concert.. and enjoy I did! If Stevie ever comes back to Jones Beach, I will definitely be there! It was one of the best!

I was there also. Just got off the Amtrak train. No one that has posted about the show is exagerating in the slightest bit. I was in the front row...

There was not one second of the nervous hand movements and gestures. Every move was intent and with full confidence. She was truly and genuinely "into" it.

I have also seen her many times since 1986 and as much as I loved the Two Voices tour, this show definitely takes the cake! I hope to the torrent gods that this show was recorded. If Soundstage is anything like what I saw last night, we are in for an amazing treat!

I can't remember if it was Rhiannon or GDW, but there was one line that she sang softly that she usually doesn't sing that way and I swear it was her Bella Donna voice.

I kept looking at her (duhh!) and I saw the Stevie from 1981 in her face... Wide eyed and smiles galore... Amazing!

And she was incredibly funny and engaging as well.

"I just want it to be like you're in my living room." LOL.

"When I went to change into my Rhiannon outfit, there was a bee in my hair... It's probably still there! " LOL.

I just downloaded pics to my PC. I'll post them shortly.

Eric that's so funny about Stevie hanging on to your hand. Hey, you'd give it to her, if you were sure you wouldn't be needing it for a thing or 2 in the future!

Michele

For me it was the best Edge walk I have ever done!

Crash, Face The Promise, Stand Back
Stand Back really sounds different without a crowd!

On to the show.

Stevie was on fire. Amazing! She mentioned that the show was the 2nd to last to the end of the summer tour. She also made a comment that basically the whole last week of shows the rain followed them but it was here yet but I am sure it will be here soon!
The part about the bee in her hair was hilarious. I saw something fly into her head but I thought it was a moth. 15 twirls during Stand Back. She left the red shawl on for Stand Back, Outside the Rain, Dreams and If Anyone Falls. Her vocals on Rhiannon were outstanding. I am trying to remember bits and pieces. She wore boots all night but up until Rhiannon she was wearing shorter boots. When it was time for Rhiannon she put the taller black boots on but they came off and the shorter ones eventually came off. The girls were amazing as well. Lori is one fantastic woman! She waved and smiled a few times at me. I think all 3 girls were getting a bit irritated with the girl at the far right of the stage who works on the sound because they kept telling her all night turn Stevie up, turn the piano down, turn my mic up. Stevie was having a few problems with the in ears. Ok so now to the Edge walk and the whole thing with security. Beforehand we ran into Lenny Castro and chatted with him and we took pictures with him but only with our cell phones and we told him "they made us bring our cameras back to the car" and he was like "why? that is stupid"...so AT least the band doesn't mind pictures...anyways..there were 3 drunk ladies behind me that managed to get up for the walk and I swore they were going to screw it up for us. Security thought it was funny that they were all over each other and drunk. I was so pissed...so anyways I let this guy up for the Edge walk. So he stood to the left of me right in front of the speaker. When Stevie came over to us she OBVIOUSLY couldn't reach the guy in front of the speaker so here she comes right for me!! She grabbed both of my hands squeezed on to them looked at me I said thank you she said thank you and then I managed to get my left hand free but she wasn't letting go of my right hand. She reached over and shook the dude to the left of me, Donna to the right of me and a few people behind me. STILL holding on to my hand but now she is like swinging my arm like we were dancing. I was like OH MY GOD she isn't letting go. So she gave it one more squeeze, turned to me smiled and let go. The rest of the show was great. I am so happy that my buddy Donna after 30 years go to shake her hand. It was worth the 4 hour plus drive from Boston! Peace, love and Stevie rccks!

I'm happy to read these reviews. As many of you know (ad nauseum ), my very first Stevie concert was at Jones Beach (RAL), so I have a soft spot for the place (I was born in Wantagh). It's nice to hear that Stevie is feeling inspired and giving a great performance.

She does look beautiful, too. I really love the red shawl.

Hey Arlene,
Yes please do. I cannot figure out how to do it.
Also when Stevie was singing How Still My Love, the audience clapped to
the music...The crowd adored her. I first saw her at Jones beach
during RAL and I love the two voices tour, but this was the best....
I am still on a high.
I tried to cut and paste I can't figure it out.
Erick and Donna were so nice....
Darla
