I'm very disappointed with Stevie - and have been for a while. I've seen her twice in concert - the last time in Vegas - and I'm not planning on seeing her again. She seems to think that putting songs in different places in a setlist is enough to have people spend hundreds of $$ to watch old regurgitated stuff, done the same way, and then throw us a bone with a cover version.
I would be happy to max out my credit card seeing her in a smaller, more intimate setting, mixing up the old songs (perhaps doing them acoustically? Re-arranging them to sound fresh?) with unrecorded old or new stuff. She seems to want to rest on her history, instead of dipping into her creativity and expanding on that. I'll pay anything to watch creativity at work. Paying to see her go through the same old motions, yet again, seems a complete waste to me. I was just watching an interview on Youtube where she says she doesn't want to be boring, and always tries to do something interesting and new on stage. Think maybe someone could send her the clip? |

All this thread proves to me is that there are other female artists who still want and need to make music and release it despite record sales. And to tell the truth, even in this digital age of downloads and illegal filesharing, I can't imagine any of those artists selling huge amounts these days anyway, it happens to a lot of older artists, even ones who sold a lot in their youth. People move on, new acts come along and replace them as the new hot thing, only certain acts manage to maintain a certain level of popularity and you can probably count them on one hand.

I'm disappointed mostly that she has that phlegmy, mucousy, nasally click in her voice now. Listen to how she says 'moon' or 'broom'. I wish that septum could have been repaired. I just don't enjoy her voice anymore..

Someone here once said that they thought she would close out her career with FM. Judging by what Stevie has said recently it looks like that is what will happen. I would much rather have new material from her with FM than solo so I am really looking forward to the new CD.
Everyone should keep in mind that they only tell us bits and pieces of what is going on. There are many many people behind the scenes that we don't hear from regarding her career. |
