This is a part early in the book where Lindsey takes Carol Ann to a Post Rumors party. (FYI Stevie is a no show.) Apparently, Chris starts asking Carol Ann all sorts of questions about her background, what she does now, etc. etc. Carol Ann says that she and her live-in boyfriend make bootlegs of concerts. They sneak in a mike and a tape recorder and then later produce colored vinyl LP's for sale.

Chris asks her if she is planning to pirate Rumors and Carol Ann bleaches and says something like "OH NO! I would never do that."

Then our little Carol Ann has passed "the test" and the band decides she is alright and can become a member of the inner circle. (Lindsey is gushing and so proud of his "little girl.")

BTW...Chris was the member - delegated to interrogate little Carol Ann, who is viewed as a very innocent, delicate, child. There are many apologies about "sorry to put you through that but we HAD to know, etc. etc."

Then the party is descibed and Carol Ann says people end up having to use the bathroom a lot -- quickly and frequently, even while they are still talking (cocaine reference) and she can't quite figure out why.

Yes, it seems to get humorous as little innocent Carol Ann tells her story, like she is the little lamb and the rest are wolves in sheep's clothing. Only thing is that she is so naive', I can't tell if she is serious or just plain "stahoopid".

Thanks, Betsy

Have you ever wondered why Stevie never plays an instrument on stage? This is what Carol had to say about her first rehearsal for the Rumours tour :

The first person I saw was Stevie Nicks, sitting on the edge of a wooden crate with an acoustic guitar strapped around her neck. Lindsey was leaning over her with his hands on his head in a classic pose of frustration. As I approached, unseen, Lindsey let out a loud wail of frustration.

"Jesus, Stevie! You said you wanted to play guitar on 'Go Your Own Way'! This sounds like ****! It's easy to play, so what's the problem? Try it again. Now!"

Stevie bent her head over the guitar and slowly, painstakingly tried to make it thorugh the opening guitar riff of "Go Your Own Way." She sounded like a child playing her big brother's Gibson acoustic. John, Mick, and Christine were all lounging in the front row of metal chairs, not even trying to muffle their snickers and laugher.

Lord help me, I said to myself, could I have picked a worse time to arrive?

Lindsey let out another "Arrghh!" at full volume and began to stomp away from Stevie toward the cheap folding chairs. He stopped dead in his tracks when he saw me standing just outside the circle of light. His angry expression left his face, replaced with a glow of pleasure as he walked quickly twoard me. Cringing inside, I felt all eyes upon me as I unwillingly became the center of attention. The band swiveled in their chairs, vodka tonics in hand, to become spectators to play that was unfolding before them. As Lindsey reached me, he picked me up and swung me around in his arms. Looking over his shoulder, I could see Stevie standing up - anger and disgust etched on her face. With a toss of her hair, she took the guitar from around her neck and threw it on the floor. She then stalked off into the gloom behind the stage.

Aside from the Lindsey and Mick Jagger 'meeting', which I won't spoil for you guys still wanting to read this book, the following part had me in stitches the most:

She told me she wanted to talk to me about Lindsey and my relationship with him. Please no, I thought desperately. I can't deal with another scene right now. I really can't. I started to pull away from her but found that her slim fingers were holding me tightly. Trapped, I waited with resignation for whatever was coming.

I got a thirty-minute lecture about how to be the perfect woman for Lindsey. She told me that she was aware of how difficult it must be to live with him. She should know, she said. We both began laughing and I started to relax. She went on and on about how perfect Lindsey and I were for each other. After fifteen minutes she started talking about auras and visions and for the life of me I couldn't really make sense of what was she saying. I mean, Stevie's philosophy about "Life with Lindsey Buckingham" was so mystical and otherworldly that a mere mortal had no hope of understanding it. ( )

After twenty-five minutes my head was spinning. I knew that Lindsey must be wondering where I was, and just when I was about to make my excuse to Stevie and tell her thanks for the talk but I gotta go, I heard a voice behind me say, "OK. That's great. It's a wrap in here." Turning in shock, I saw that a camera crew had filmed the entire discussion. With my back to them, I had no idea that they were there - but Stevie knew. As soon as they said, "It's a wrap," she smiled sweetly at me and swept out of the room.

Unh! I can't believe what just happened! She just used me for one of her "crystal vision" speeches and it's all on ****in' tape! I can't friggin' believe it! How embarrassing is this? Oh my God.

You are right. Carol Ann says that in the last chapter and that Tango in the Night (song) is also about her.

I got kinda bored last night, so I skipped and read the last chapter to see if I will even stay with this thing. The tone changes and it is sad...almost like someone else is writing the book, compared to the writing style of the first part. (Damn, I wish I had taken that speed reading class..)

By skipping to the end, I am now intrigued enough to finish reading it. You Ledgies have made me realize the humor in the Stevie parts. It reminds me of a combination of Shakespearean plays. Lindsey is Hamlet - (that boy has a lot of issues) and Carol Ann is Ophelia (extremely in love and happily picking flowers). Mick is the comical character, sexual and earthy. Chris and John are the background cast being supportive, and hanging around with a vodka drink in one hand and a cigarette in the other.

And Stevie, you just gotta love Stevie. The references of her and her girlfans "slinking to the shadows of the stage" (during Rumours rehearsals), reminded me of the witches in MacBeth. Stevie is as sinister as Iago, and yet, comical and loveable. The comments Carol Ann makes about her - what she says, what she does and what she wears, well....to see those two get down in the dirt and kick up gravel, is just some good entertainment.

Yes, and let's not forget the part where Stevie tells Carol she got hives because of her.

I got this book about 3p.m yesterday and am a little more than halfway thru it. What's pissing me off the most is from the get-go, it's "i'm SO strong...been in the muic biz FOR YEARS....." she starts off barely 18 going into the Rumours aspect of life. What "years" does she have under her belt? And since when is booting music biz experience, ASIDE from the fact that it was mostly her ex doin' it.

Then she folds everytime Linds has a tantrum. So she's storng/weak, strong/weak. Women like this drive me batty. Get a backbone for chris'ake.

OTHERWISE, I am completely enamored w/ the fact that we are getting different perspectives on what it must have been like during the Rumours heyday. Nothing like reading a book that DOES NOT START "in the beginning.....Peter Green.....blah, bllah, blah" I'm taking each chapter w/ a grain of salt as far as authenticity, but hey, whatever. For as guilty as I feel reading it, there are some intersting aspects.

And as friggin' HOT as LB is...I'm grateful she's not getting THAT into their sex life. I prefer my daydreams, and c'mon, the guy is married and has kids that may well read this one day. YUCK! "ewww...Daad!"

Here’s more on the Fleetwood Mac memoir “Storms,” by a longtime ex-girlfriend of the band’s Lindsey Buckingham. Author Carol Ann Harris, who says that with the exception of one brief chat she’s never spoken about her years with the band before, writes that Buckingham’s previous girlfriend Stevie Nicks “transferred her feelings of rage from her past lover” to her and was incensed at having to sing the nasty lyrics Buckingham had written in dismissal of her, “Go Your Own Way.”

Nicks once wandered offstage to grab Harris in mid-concert, when Nicks was supposed to be singing “World Turning,” and “gripped my upper arm like a claw. I could smell the alcohol on her breath as she started to scream at me that I was evil. Evil, evil, evil! She hated me, she said. She screeched that she was never going to allow Lindsey to marry me.”

After Buckingham suffered a ten-minute grand mal seizure the morning before a 1977 show in Philadelphia, Harris thought he was dying. But Mick Fleetwood resisted taking Buckingham to a hospital, saying that Lindsey would be “fine” when he woke up and he wanted to ask him if he could play the show after his “little attack.” Buckingham did indeed go on, with an ambulance waiting, but at one point stopped, put his head down and leaned against a speaker. Afterward, Nicks rushed up to Harris and said, “I know just how you must be feeling! My poodle Jenny — I just love her to pieces — got shut inside the sunroom of my house in Phoenix and she almost died!” Buckingham, told of this, later said, “That woman’s wacko, I swear. Even for her, that’s pretty out there.”

Buckingham could be pretty heartless himself, though; after Harris suffered a miscarriage of their child, not having known she was pregnant in the first place, she says Buckingham’s reaction was “no words of consolation, none of concern.” Instead he delivered a ten-minute tirade of accusations that I was hiding a pregnancy from him. And to Lindsey that seemed the ultimate betrayal.”

So, as imagined the book is a load of rubbish full of Stevie mentions ... unfortunately the kind of stuff Hollywood would buy.

This sounds like more fun the more I hear about it.

It is really a hoot to hear some of the nuttiness that went on. God knows no one else will ever write about it. Mick's version was boring. Lindsey won't do it. John and Chris couldn't be bothered. Stevie will drop dead before she writes about it. And even on the off chance that she did, it would santized within an inch of its life anyway. I am gonna make a meal of this thing.

When I first started reading some comments I thought this book was going to be a hoot also, and really, at some points it really was, I'll admit to having laughed out loud several times. But the book gets on your nerves after a while. At times I had to check whether Carol Ann actually wrote the book, because page after page is filled with over the top romantic and dramatic imageries that would make you think La Nicks had a hand in it. It gets a little nauseating after a while.

You've got it! The book was so annoying with all the references to romance and the fairytale terms she uses to describe it. It was bugging me big time, like I was reading a badly written Harlequin Romance and I bought the $30 hardback edition. That's why I skipped to the last chapter. I kept thinking -- "Is this chick ever gonna grow up and talk like an adult?"

I don't take issue with her writing the book. Hey, I'm reading it. What I don't like is the writing style. She talks about the Rumours Europe tour and how frightened she is. And the sentence before that she says she and John had been to Europe twice and Japan once. She is only 23. That sounds a bit like she's more worldly that she will admit.

While with John, they had a child together and she carefully places it up for adoption. Wouldn't that be a life-altering experience , making one mature and take life a little more seriously? The way CAH writes, I keep thinking... "I don't think this puppy has his eyes open."

I just don't buy that this girl from Oklahoma was that naive'. When she spars with Stevie, she's a full-blown ninja out for war.
