Stevie mentions in Carol's book 'Storms'
I just finished reading 'Storms' last night. I managed to fly through it in two days while also attending Stevie's show Saturday night. I read some of the thread on Lindsey's board and I'm kind of getting the impression a lot of you guys either aren't going to read it or don't believe it. But what if some of it is true? I thought it was a great read regardless, and I even cried laughing a few times. It was ten times better than Mick's book. I was hooked from the first sentence to the last. This week I am going to go back through it and find parts (mostly Stevie mentions) that I really found interesting. My favorite thus far (I hope I don't get in trouble for copying this...I give her full credit!)
Beginning of chapter 2 page 6 The day after Lindsey told me about breaking up with Stevie, I was sitting on the floor in the reception room of Studio B when a tiny hummingbird of a woman brushed past me in a blaze of color, on a cloud of patchouli and ylang-ylang. I stared. I'd never seen anything so bright and dynamic before, so compelling, so intensely certain of the vibe she created. I watched as she jumped up onto a scuffed, low table in the center of that dingy gray room with its shabby carpets and grubby open shelving, creating a stage, inviting an audience. She moved and spoke at lightning speed, sniffing, pushing stray locks of long, blonde hair out of her eyes, smoothing her peasant blouse, swishing her silken skirts to create a backing track as she started to describe her Acapulco holiday. "Like...mystical...and the moonlight...and so translucent, and kinda deep dark, dancing under the stars, and the ocean, there, black and pounding -" Words just poured out of her, words and sniffs, then after pausing, "It was life-changing. Life changing!" She sniffed again. I'd just met Stevie Nicks. She was without a doubt the most mesmerizing woman I'd ever encountered. I didn't need to be told that she was a star. Her light was blinding. People gathered around. I sat transfixed, still on the floor, and looking up at this five-foot-nothing exquiste firebrand. |
One more part
They seemed to make fun of her a lot. I love Stevie and I would never ever change a thing about her, but I have to admit, this part had me crying with laughter. I will post this as well and then I'm off to find some more parts. This sort of reminded me of myself because my two cats are like my children. I would never compare them to a human, but I get made fun of a lot. (Btw, did anyone read the part about what Lindsey said to Mick Jagger??!!! OMG!!! I nearly DIED!!! LOL!!!!!)
Oh, before I type this. This was on the Rumours tour right after Lindsey had his seizure. She had just described in full detail how scary it was to watch Lindsey, thinking he might die, and how the band still made him play that night. This is what happened later in the morning - Feeling as though I'd never smile again - much less laugh - I followed Lindsey across the hotel lobby in a daze. Suddenly a hand pulled insistently on my arm and I looked up to see Stevie Nicks. "Carol, I heard about what happened this morning and I know just how you must be feeling!" she said in her low, husky voice. "You do?" "Of course I do! My poodle Jenny - I just love her to pieces - got shut inside the sunroom of my house in Phoenix and she almost died! It was horrible! The room was so hot that she collapsed and by the time I found her she was lying in a little heap, gasping for breath. It scared me to death, you know. I cried and cried. Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that." With a squeeze of her hand to bolster me against the horror of her personal tragedy, she swept away regally and walked out into the sunshine. What? She's comparing what happened to LIndsey to a near-death experience of her poodle? Standing frozen in my tracks, I tried to make sense out of what she'd just told me. And I started to laugh, giggling hysterically, as I followed her outside to the limos. I felt like banging my head on top of the car to try to get back to planet Earth. Jesus! Has the whole friggin' world gone crazy? Lindsey looked at me as though I'd lost my mind. "What's so funny?" He asked with a puzzled look on his face, unable, I'm sure, to understand how I could be laughing after that morning's events. "Oh Lindsey, oh Lord, you're not going to believe what just happened!" I gasped, trying to stop giggling long enough to get the words out. His eyes widened in disbelief as I told him the exact words of Stevie's "comforting" story. Now laughing as hard as I was, he spluttered, "That woman's wacko, I swear. Even for her, that's pretty out there! But seriously, Carol, did she make you feel better?" As I nodded we both broke into fresh peals of laughter and it felt wonderful. "Hey Carol, you should have asked Stevie if she was sure it was the heat in her sunroom or if maybe 'little Jenny' had just OD'd on blow." And we started to laugh all over again. Stevie's poodle Jenny was infamous for its love of cocaine. Stevie had told many a story backstage of her poodle's fondness for the taste of blow. She said that she couldn't leave a packet on any of her tables at home - if she did, the dog would eat it, paper and all - and then run around in little energetic circles. After the horrific morning we'd had, we both owed Stevie a solid "thank you" for inadvertenly making both of us feel better. Even if we were laughing at her this time, all that mattered was that she did, indeed, lighten our spirits. Who knows, I mused, maybe Stevie's so brillant that she knew it'd take a bizzare out-of-left field story to cut through my shock. I smiled as I replayed our encounter in my head. |

Okay, I know this is the Stevie room, but I was wondering what this person thought of Chris...
Anyone want to post a passage about Carol's take on her? |
My dogs are like my kids -- so, I totally get La Nicks' story.
Also - if a dog ate a pack of coke, it would in all probability die. |

Oh, and both Songbird and Oh Daddy are about Curry Grant. According to Carol she later on changed the meanings to what the fans have always speculated, Songbird being 'for everyone' and Oh Daddy being about Mick.

I'll have to come back and read these later, but WOW...thanks for posting these.

I wanna get this book (and some ylang ylang oil!)

I found some more hilarious parts last night. If I get time tonight after work, I will post a few more. I remember the part about Christine's 'granny knickers' and I will try to post that as well. LOL!!! Did Carol say they were on display at the police station or something?? I can't remember now, but god, that was funny!!!

OMG!
I cannot wait for my copy to arrive! I LOVE the Stevie dog story!! I was giggling myself when I read it - it'd be the same sort of thing I'd say! Except I did lose my little darling this year :distress: . PLUS - I totally loved the Patchouli mention! I love to burn it around the house and put drops of it into scarves etc! |
Here's the part about the house, because it's just so damn funny...
--- As Lindsey pulled over and parked his Beemer next to a huge white Spanish house , I head a voice echoing above our heads that I recognized. Looking up, I saw Stevie Nicks standing on one of the balconies overhanging the street. Lindsey swore as he grabbed my hand, pulling me up a flight of stairs that led to the open front door of the house. "I can't believe that Stevie got to this house first! Damnit it! I'm going to find a new realtor, I swear to God!" Lindsey tossed over his shoulder at me as we raced into the house and up a huge staircase inside. Stevie laughed as soon as she saw Lindsey's scowling face from her perch of the balcony of the huge living room. "Great house, Lindsey. What a surprise to see you here!" she teased in her husky voice. "I just might buy it! You really must see the fire place in the master bedroom! It's perfect for me!" "Whatever, Stevie. Who's your realtor? Satan?" Lindsey snapped back. "I wouldn't say that... but my realtor has enough mystical powers to know to bring me here an hour before you! And anyway, he got the listing last night from your realtor!" Laughing at the dark scowl still on Lindsey's face, she continued. "Oh, Lindsey, don't be such a spoilsport. This is a perfect girl's house...I really like it...oh, hi, Carol," Stevie added as an afterthought. |
I don't believe a word of this "..." BS! :wavey:
