"It's a phase, it's a rebellion," or so most of the people around me would like to believe who aren't in my closest circle of friends. To slightly paraphrase a lovely little gay fluff pic, "But she's a cheerleader!", she can't like women! Well you know, just because the people here can't seem to break their stereotype of what a lesbian or bisexual is certainly doesn't mean that I'm going to suddenly cease being one. To be honest, I'm 70:30 in terms of my attractions...and that 70% favors women.

Well there's an interesting double standard of sorts with bisexuality and men and women.

For men it's the last stop before gaytown.

For women? It's the last stop before straightown....

At least that's how it seems. Either way - it's annoying.

I was beginning to figure I was one of a small group here, for sure I migrated from the pre-Rumours section, not a common route to this part of the world.. I suspect I got lost on the way to the Peter Green section, and just eventually decided this was the right place to be

There have been studies that show that men who identify themselves as bisexual in their teens and twenties, on average, ultimately identify themselves as exclusively homosexual later on.

But, of course, they're only dealing with averages there, and every individual is different.

When asked where they even though to do that....they almost always say tv...it's sad.

Anyway...I'm completely hypocritical because I am so wary of any woman who claims to be bi, and I have trouble dating them...because I've been screwed over one too many times...the whole "sexual orientation" game gets old after a while....really I'd just like to find someone I connect with who is not a psycho.
Sixth ****ing grade? Get out. I agree with wanting to connect with someone who isn't a psycho, though.

I agree. It's hard to see that when you're in your twenties.

Oh I know...and I know there's evidence to back up these "stereotypes" but for those of us who don't fall into that it's somewhat frustrating.

Sixth grade, I kid you not...though actually my sister has not had to deal with that this school year - but last year she kept busting boys for paying girls to make out...the girls would also get busted

Someone not psycho lol...this is where my standards have landed...oh and someone who's not a bloody liar would also be a plus.

Otherwise, you would be able to be at an all boys school and be out of the closet, find other gay guys to be friends/bf's with, etc.

Things have gotten a lot better. Your generation has it better than my generation, which has it a lot better than the generation before me. Just that fact that you are semi-out and can talk to other gay people on this board is light years better than I had it. I was out when I was 16-17, but I had to sneak into gay bars and my "friends" were 35 year old gay dudes trying to deflower me.

But....it's hard. You should be able to be open with all of your friends and it shouldn't be a big deal to anyone.

Its a lot easier said than done. If I came out tomorrow at school it would just be disastrous. I am a very quiet person in real life. I am VERY shy and I hate talking in front of people. I try to make sure everyone likes me. I really hate that I have to hold this in, but I just don't have the guts. I wish there was never any hate towards us. Its REALLY uncomfortable sometimes. I don't know what my friends would do. Thats a whole other story.

Straight...though any way you look at it, I'm not gettin' any! But, I couldn't put "asexual" only because I'm not opposed to the idea of gettin' some. I'm just too busy, and frankly too tired of dealing with people all day to go out for that at night.
