You get used to the cold after a while just like people get used to the heat. I posted on this thread last week that it was minus twenty something here. Its 3am now and down to about -30C. The cold is fine - it's the fact that there hasn't been any light since November that drives you mad. It will be like this til the end of March.

^ Wow, welcome to The Ledge. You may officially be the most distant member, as far as miles away.

This morning it was 1 F with a wind chill around 12 below. Like Kate's area, they closed the schools here because it's just too bitter. No snow since Sat (when we had several instances of whiteout conditions - once when I was leaving to go to my mom's; yeah, we turned our asses around & went home not 50 feet from my house.) But this wind is just brutal.

I would've liked to see them play that game yesterday up here instead of Miami. lolz.
To top it all off, my furnace went out Saturday. It was 58 deg. in my house this morning when I woke up. Furnace guy was supposed to be there today, but I haven't heard from him all day long. Hopefully he can make it today. Thank God for lots of blankets.

Wow. That's amazing. I can't even begin to imagine. Here we are complaining about -3.... I'll quit crying about it now.

Welcome to the Ledge.

So we're pretty much getting slammed here now. Waiting on up to 10 inches. It's worse just north of me, where they're under a blizzard warning. Sara's school and daycare is canceled, so naturally, I had to call in!!! SNOW DAY!!! I'm thinking of a little backyard sledding.... hot chocolate. Just talked to my boss, he was typing out my absence e-mail to the building as I was calling... he knew I wouldn't drive in this ****. We're supposed to get freezing rain on top of the snow. It's only supposed to get worse as the day goes on. I hope we don't lose power!

So far, we've received about 5 inches, which isn't bad, but it's been icing since 9:30 this morning, and hasn't stopped since. I'm scared that the power is going to go out. After it's expected to stop sleeting, they're expecting another 5 inches. Ugh. Stupid weather.

It's about 20-something outside, but the wind is blowing between 20-40 MPH out of the North bringint the Artic air with it, so the windchill is much colder.

This morning it was gusting between 40-60MPH and it rained through the night, surprised it didnt snow (But it will on Valentine's Day).

I dont complain about the cold weather, cause I know summer is around the corner and then it will be in 100-110's daily - And I will complain! (Dont think I can take another summer of 40+day of temps over 100.)

60's and partly cloudy here. You guys in the snow and rain will get your revenge when it hits the 120's here this summer.

We got hit overnight, still going strong. I'd say we got around 8-10 inches total so far. That's not really unusual here - but it's really cold & windy, worse than usual. I think today it's about 15 degrees with a wind chill below 0.

I just can't keep warm, even inside. Last night while I was up watching TV I had on flanel PJ's, a big fleece robe/pouch-thingy and a wool blanket. Of course,my husband has on pajama pants & a Tshirt.

My property's perimeter is lined with pine trees. I've got broken limbs everywhere. My driveway is blocked with iced limbs(still attached to the trees). We pulled the limbs out of the way, and got my truck to the end of the 300' driveway, so I'll be parking by the road, and walking in, until it melts enuf for the limbs to lift themselves.

I FUKCING HATE WINTER.

I was wondering how you were doing down there. I see you have power, though, so that's positive! Stay safe!
