It just looks like a double standard to me. The best way, in my opinion, to deal with a thread you don't like or that annoys you is not to post in it. Like I thought the poll about the Stevie crush was lame and I was enjoying watching it sink to the bottom until Amber had to come in and talk about gay people for the millionth time.
There are 500 different food threads - different kinds of food, dieting, health, etc. Ethan asked a specific question that's been asked before. I simply asked him to check previous threads so he could have answers, rather than people ignoring him because they've already disussed the subject.

It's not a personal attack. I just think if you think Ledgies are being inappropriate to another Ledgie, then it should be discussed in private.

Chris -- you and I know pretty well now that we have different ways of dealing with people, and that's ok. No two people are going to react to something or deal with something the exact same way and it would be boring if we did.

Like I tried to convey in my earliest posts in this thread, as a moderator, I didn't see anything necessarily wrong with the premise of your thread. Certainly some good-natured spoofing can be handled by any one of us here, young and old alike.

But given the writing style of your first message, it took on a more negative tone and came across as mocking and ridiculing.

Regardless of how I may feel about mocking others, etc., on a personal basis, I have to, as a moderator, try my best to uphold the guidelines here.
Granted, I'm only human and I unfortunately sometimes miss other instances where one Ledgie was mocking or taunting another Ledgie, but when I do see it happening, I do my best to curtail it.
If I didn't, then I wouldn't be doing the job Marty & Lis asked me to do.

I do agree with you there.
Sometimes though, when it involves multiple Ledgies, it's admittedly easier to post a message in a thread asking everyone to watch their behavior than it is to PM each and every one of them in private.

If you guys think I could handle these situations in a better way though, I'm genuinely open to suggestions.

Brian, I don't have any problems with your moderating. Haven't you noticed that I didn't respond to your first post in this thread? I didn't have a problem with what you said.

You and I both know that you were "winky" inferring with that statement I quoted that everybody bags on Ethan and, essentially, no one is "kind" or "helps". Otherwise, you wouldn't have stated it that way. It's okay- you can own up to it.

I think I've proven in the past that I'm more than willing to own up to things if they're true, but I didn't mean that everybody slams Ethan or that no one is kind or helps. Obviously Mary and Deanna were sticking up for him in this particular thread.

All I meant, was exactly what I said -- that I hadn't personally seen anyone offering helpful suggestions to Ethan and I was interested in seeing those messages. If my wording implied otherwise, then I apologize.

WELL then..

let's see. First of all, I would like to say my vote went for Gold dust woman. I really don't like fish, (to look at or to eat) so that was the decision factor for me. also GDW contains one of the best lines (imo) "rulers make bad lovers"

so true...so so true.

I LOVE to bowl. But I really suck. I think my all time high score was 120 or something But I still enjoy it.

To whether or not ethan is a troll-eh. I believe it will all come out in the wash if he is. I agree with gldstwmn-this place is definitely going to hell in a handbasket. It's the holidays people. The most STRESSFUL time of the year. It is easy to take our frustrations out on other ledgies, but can we try to just put some of this stuff behind us for the time being and enjoy the season? And I'm not trying to moderate. Believe me-I would never attempt that task. I just think it's easy to get up in arms about things that really, in the grand scheme of things don't make that much of a difference. I'm guilty too I enjoy confrontation every once in awhile like the rest of ya. Which is why this is weird-I'm not usually all "chipper" and "happy". Someone please hit me in the head.
so that is my vent

strand-will you post that pic of you naked again?? that would certainly get ME in the Christmas spirit!!!

and paula-are you going to start another "christmas baking" thread?? i enjoyed it last year and tried a few of your recipes out

But then we're quite a bit older than Ethan, aren't we?

I guess I missed those posts. The only ones I've ever seen in regards to his posting style -- since the first day I noticed Ethan posting on this board -- were messages attacking and mocking him.

I'd be happy to read the kind, considerate suggestions that were made to him if anyone would like to point them out to me.
I have been kind and considerate to Ethan, and have stood up for him from the beginning. Those who knew him from 7W have already pre-judged him and most likely even perpetuated (erroneous) gossip that has poisoned the well for him here. I think its deplorable.

This is what I mean. For cripes sake, why would anyone even think that Ethan isnt who he says he is? The stuff I saw over on 7W didnt suggest an adult (as some insinuate). If there is proof positive, lets hear/see it people. Lets put this GARBAGE to rest.....either expose Ethan for a fraud or take his word he's just a kid!

my gawd, thats an efficient use of one's time isnt it?

HO****!

We're not supposed to discuss things that have happened on other boards, remember?

I've gently warned him as well, but don't know how to link to the post!

Anyway. It's incredible how he comes somewhere and splits, to me.
He draws very strong reactions, either of the protective or the annoyed variety, and it's hard for people to stay neutral.

Just a pattern around him that I see re-occurring.
