My Mom didn't do that but she criticized me often in private yet bragged about me to others. Then once in a while they'd tell me and I'd be thinking, "Why can't she tell me that?" We recently got into a pretty good fight which has made me, once again, limit my time with her. It was over the fact that she doesn't care for her emotional health. I guess to her I sound like Ms Harpy because she absolutely does not want to deal with her issues. She's normal after all! And I'm sure she is, but that doesn't mean she doesn't have issues. ![]() Quote:

just kidding.yeah, it sucks to see families that don't do this to their kids. I walk around with a lot of guilt. I could go on and on about various things, but I'll tell one more and then let it go. my grandma used to always tell me "when you grow up you won't ever come see me. you'll forget me and I'll be alone" and I'd always say "no I won't, I love you and I'll come see you" - so, of course now that I'm grown and have responsibility I don't really get to see her as much as I'd like so every chance she gets she tells me about all the times she told me that and in an "I told you so" way. makes me feel like poo. but no one seems to mention the fact that she comes here to see my aunt and never bothers to call me and let me know she's in town. |

oh. on a GREAT note, this morning I fit into my half-way mark goal jeans. Hollister jeans that I haven't been able to wear in months, probably a year. I'm in heaven!

High five!Oh yeah, and tell your grandmother if she were loving and nurturing you would happily go see her but since she isn't she can go sh*t in her hat! Don't feel guilty she's a pill. If you asked your aunt, would she call you to let you know when your grandmother is coming? I like the idea of you visiting her with others around. If you choose to visit her at all.

I like that idea
Heh.... Actually...I've been meaning to update in here. Not going as strictly on the diet side (and I've still yet to read the "8 Weeks..." book that is sitting by my bed...) But I don't have to be as strict when I'm working out everyday, which I am. Well, again, only 5 days. Because I'm trying to LOSE weight rather than maintain I've upped my cardio to 45 minutes...and on days when I do weights I do more than my traditional 10 minute cardio warm-up....so all around the workouts are longer and more intense. So far so good - though numbers wise I'm not down a lot I've got two pairs of pants (regular ones, not my "fat pants") that are not fitting so good - I had to use a safety pin yesterday to fold over the waist on one pair So it's going well - this season has been a bitch with all the damn candy and cakes and cinnamon buns people are bringing in - but it't the holiday season and I'm exercising so I'm not goign to beat myself up for eating a piece of cake ![]() |

I can't live my life not having a damn piece of pizza when I want it ---but it's the learning that I can have one or two slices - I don't have to eat half the pizza in one sitting....That's the thing - teaching myself moderation...it's not that I didn't KNOW the half a pizza was unhealthy - I'm not an idiot (contrary to what others believe) but it's a compulsion. And it turns out the roots go back to my childhood - I've always had a really weird hang up about food - and this fear that I wouldn't get enough. I don't know where it came from as I never remember a time growing up when I went hungry....but the fear has always been there...so I over-compensate eating more than I should....I'm still working on figuring out where this came from in my life. And there's the ever-popular stress and emotional eating of which I've always been a big practitioner That one has been easier to fight actually....And, of course, the exercise really really helps. It's also helped my way of thinking...like after a good workout I don't want to undo it all by eating some huge gross meal...I want something good that will nourish my body etc... so that shift in attitude has been a welcomed thing in my life. |

I've been slacking in both departments for about 5 or 6 days. It doesn't take long to make you feel sluggish & gross. We've been offsite doing flu shot clinics at work, which means I have to eat the prepackaged lunch they give us - at 11am.
I hate it. This is totally screwing with my eating schedule, not to mention working extra early &/or late is not helping me get in much exercise. Blergh. Tomorrow's the last day, and I'm exhausted. |

well I am thoroughly peeved. how in the hell have I gained 3 lbs? I'm assuming it's muscle. but at this rate, I'll never meet my end of the year goal. I've been stepping up my whole exercise routine. I'm formatting a 45 day program that I'll share here once I'm done. hopefully I will lose these last 20 in a couple months.
