Default Spaghetti sauces

Ok we all know homemade is probably the best, so leaving that aside what are your favorite brands of sauce? Here are mine:

Bertolli
Barilla
Classico
Emeril's
Ragu

Whatever is on sale

I always doctor it anyway - so I can usually make store-bought tast ok...

And come to think of it I don't think I've ever had real home-made sauce...mine is always out of a jar...

As a matter of fact, Barilla is one sale at my local grocery store. 3 for $5 right now! Needless to say I've already picked up a few.

Sounds like you make a wicked sauce my friend. I would always take homemade if I had the choice. BUt doctoring up sauce in ones own way is also very good.

No idea how the sauces for the foreign markets are different from ours but at least Bertolli and Barilla are two very serious and famous Italian brands, usually their products are extremely affordable.

Anyway, for those who might be interested here's a link to the easy version of the Italian recipe explained in English, there's also a video.

if i buy sauce it is always prego & i like to add more stuff to it, but if i have the time i like to use a recipe i have outa the movie "goodfellas" cookbook, it is called penitentiary sauce ~ the main character from that movie played by ray liotta was named henry hill, when he was put into witness protection, he was sent here to where i live , he has since come out of hiding & moved a few towns away & is cook at an awesome little italian joint, he also released this cookbook w/ all these fabulous italian recipes to die for, some of which you see being made in the movie~ it's the best homemade sauce i have ever made or tried!!!~

Your top 3 and Newman's Own. His is organic and the profits go to charity. I usually buy it when it's on sale though cuz it's a bit pricey.

I usually make my from scratch. But, "back in the day", I'd use:

Tommy Lasorda's (I don't think its on the market anymore)
Newman's Own
Classico (the first brand I remember seeing with so many varieties)

and, of course, when money was REALLY tight:
Prego
Ragu
Hunt's (the one in the can, not a jar)

If I dont make my own (its not that time consuming) I buy Newman's as well.
I usually doctor it up with more garlic and some tomato paste and wine.

I have spaghetti at least once a week...its one of my favorite comfort foods!

Prego or Francesco Rinaldi. Ragu's way too watery for me. Newman's own is wonderful too.
