Anyway, as much as I HATE to agree with you, this is one of my BIG pet peeves, too. My cousin comes over to my house, and stays a couple days each week. After he's had a couple beers, he will NOT stop talking. Last week, I finally shut the movie off, after about 30 minutes of non-stop blather. He kept talking for a few minutes, then he said, "turn the movie back on. I wanna watch it."
Me> "WATCH IT???? You have talked NON-STOP since I put it in, 30 minutes ago!!!!!!!!" He denied it, and I then listed topic after topic that he'd babbled about. "You've not heard one word from the movie, and neither have I! Do you realize that you NEVER stop talking?"
He finally shut up....
Amen.
My mother does this. Especially in a car. I've had to say, "Okay, I need about 5 minutes of quiet time please." The really annoying thing is, 9 out of 10 stories she tells me are reruns. She forgets she's already told me things.

Pet Peeve:

People who just assume that I or my parents or even my grandparents are immigrants because we are Hispanic. Not all hispanics are immigrants. Remember when the US stole Texas from Mexico? Many Mexicans were already there....

And New Mexico. Border cross US people. Not the other way around - New Mexico became a state in 1912. My family was already there.

So anyway - I don't know why the implication that I or my family are recent immigrants - but what seems to be ignored by and large is the fact that there are Hispanics in the U-S who have been here for many many generations. I'm not an immigrant

Yep. That's my cousin. Same stories, over and over. He's a professional beer drinker. That MIGHT have something to do with it!

Hey Dave, did I tell you about xxxxxxxxxxx?

Yes, you told me that story LAST NIGHT too!

Does he then continue to tell you the story anyway? Because that's one of my pet peeves....you tell someone they already told you - so they tell you again

I'm sure this is somewhere already, but I must vent...

People who don't know how to use self-scanners, but still attempt it. If you don't know that you have to scan one thing at a time, and that you must leave all of your bags on the counter until you pay, and that you can't put your purse or your bag or your baby on the counter, then STAY THE F*CK AWAY FROM THE THING! Seriously! it's not going to save you any time, and it's going to piss everyone off. And while I'm at it, please don't self scan iof you have 100 items. Jerk.

That being said, when people who know how to use a self-scanner (me, for example) do so and it malfunctions. This happened to me last week. I'm on lunch from work, I need about 15 items for my party. Basic stuff - paper plates, napkins, nothing too spectacular. I scan it all in, I slide my card. It gets stuck while processing my payment. Girl tells me "they've been slow, since we're using a generator right now." Yeah. Well. The other 5 are working just fine. She reboots the machine, insisting that I won't have to rescan everything. Yeah. Well. That didn't work, I did have to rescan. Not fun. I'll be watching my bank statement like a hawk next month for a double charge.

^^

Yeah _ I believe I once started a thread on the bane of my existence that is the self-scan line.

I hate them - because I always get stuck behind people who don't know what the hell they're doing - then they hold up the line - and well - yeah - I hear ya on this one.

holy ****. OMG. This is probably my biggest pet peeve. talking through movies or songs. I have left someone's house before because they would not shut the F*CK up. THere are certain people I WILL NOT watch movies with because they will not shut the F*CK up. I am they type of person who has to really concentrate on something and can't pay attention to 15 different things. If I'm wathcing a movie-SHUT UP!!!!

Yeah, he just goes on, and on, and on, and on........
He's practically my brother. We've had a couple big fights over the years, but we've gotten over them eventually. Some have lasted a couple of years though. But I think we now know HOW to not get into fights.
When Cash had to make all the 6 hour trips to U of IL, for radiation treatments, he went along with me for all of them, so I wouldn't have to go alone.
Cash is crazy about him.

You're at work talking on the phone. Someone walks into your office without knocking & starts talking, sees you're on the phone & either keeps right on talking or says "oh, you're on the phone" and stands there & stares at you.

Aww, so he does have his redeeming qualities.

Even if they're outnumbered by his others!

Arrow Tonight

People who don't know the true functionality of hazard lights.

While departing work this evening, I entered a freeway and came upon a vehicle braking in front of me. I utilized my brakes and remained approx 10+ feet behind. The driver increases to brake as do I. He then proceeds to hit a 2' x 2' x 2" pieces of hard steel (apparently.) I see this bitch slam atop the roof of his car, hurl 15' in the air, come back down onto the freeway in front of my vehicle, jump up onto my hood doing two 4' 360s and, thankfully, fall to the wayside.

1. When coming upon an unavoidable item on the freeway...hit the hazard.
2. When braking upon an unavoidable item on the freeway...stop the vehicle...don't tease the brakes!
3. When teasing upon an unavoidable item on the freeway...and no one is next to you...get over dipchit so the person behind you has the opp to avoid the f'ing thing!

I can not (well...I could) tell you how many times I have almost kicked-bucket in this way.
I guess you ledgies will have to put up with me for some time...sorry about that (maybe)

My vehicle sustained some scratch/bend damage to the front license and a small piece of grill. I am forever thankful the item didn't hit my front glass, and that I was able to avoid damage to myself or another vehicle/human. I am worried about other vehicles this evening...or whenever.

or when your boss asks you to call someone and they say.."ask them this....tell them this" you're trying to listen to the person ON the phone and your boss. I eventually just hand him the phone and say "here".
