Well, just so Jason doesn't think I meant the vibrato sounded forced, I figured that his voice had some of that quality already (I was almost going to ask "What came first, Steve, or the vibrato?")
but I know that when I try to sing a Stevie song, I end up unconsciously taking on more of her vocal qualities. I am a mimic, and I can't help it, so it makes it hard for me to add my own interpretation to cover songs at all. I haven't let myself listen to "That's Alright" since we started playing it, because I want to try to make it my own, a little. For me, when I sing too much like Stevie (as if) I end up hurting my voice a little, but then again, so did she

Oh Amber, "yay for you", just in general
I am so excited about Berkeley!!!!

so much that I decided to do it myself. you want rasp? here 'tis. LOL

oh, and it cut off my last 2 "oh oh"s - damnit.

Oooh, you soar on that "with all you can" line. Nice. the rasp sounds good.
I have never tried singing this and now I want to, but I should probably try something not already posted twice.
Now, you and Amber should maybe sing this together. I think it would make a great duet: alternate lead on verses, and harmony on chorus.

You guys have me all hooked on recorded sing-alongs now.
I often sit down to rehearse a song for the band, and end up importing some Heart, or Stevie song into Garage Band to sing with that instead. It is just too much fun!
