you bet! now thank me in the way a goddess should be thanked.

Knock yourself out, though I tend not to indulge in such conspicuous consumption that it's picked up by all the papers.

BTW - instead of typing, aren't you supposed to be working extra time to feed more of the poor?

I do my part, but sure, I could always do more. You can be damn sure that if I were a multi-millionaire, the vast majority of my fabulous wealth would be going to better causes than private rock concerts. I wouldn't be able to live with myself.

In my opinion, it's no one's business how anyone chooses to spend his or her money, as hard as it is for me to say that. Yeah, I loathe those biotches on "My Sweet Sixteen" and yeah, most of the people like that I know are asses and aren't worth 2 squirts of ducksh*t (copyright Diss) and in a perfect world the father would've thought more about shelling $10M on a freaking bat mitzvah, but this ain't OZ...in sum, who gives a fug?

Well, you do, for one, since you admittedly loathe the girls on "My Super Sweet Sixteen."

I'm just happy that Tom Petty, who is always held aloft as the prime example of how a dignified rock veteran artist should conduct themselves, played the gig, too.

No ****. I was very surprised at that one. A bat mitzvah. How embarrassing.

That's what disappoints me the most, especially as I learn more about this Brooks guy.

Of course, the guy can spend money on whatever he wants, and of course the artists have every right to play whatever show they want, but there are legitimate issues around values and the disparity between what this kid got for a party and what most children around the world have. Those issues make for good discussion, otherwise this thread would just be, oh cool, wonder what the setlist was, hope Stevie wore boots this time.

It also would have been a lot more fun, and I would have thought a lot better of Stevie, if this article was about how she decided to play a surprise show at the House of Blues over the weekend as a gift for her fans instead of grabbing a bunch of cash to sing with grumpy Don Henley at an exclusive event.

whatever. you know what I mean.

hey, I know, let's try to pick each other's post apart and craft witty comments to make ourselves and our points more valid...

would it be different if it were for a wedding or some other "party"?

Why is it sickening? If rich people want to waste their money this way it's their right. Don't you ever waste money to spoil yourself? Or buy useless things that make you happy for three minutes? They're rockstars and are on sale from the moment they debuted. We just buy them in smaller pieces and under different conditions.

good point. this topic has, imo, gotten way out of control, but why am I surprised?

Of course because fans are the only customers who have the right to be satisfied.

Well that's not what I said. I think I was pretty clear that everyone has the right to everything.

Well, no because they got moral reproach for accepting to do a private party.
