That is frustrating!

Sometimes situtations like that.... where I have no control over the situation and feel helpless... can be the most depressing of all.

Well, I am wallowing in self pity today. I made a 874.00 mistake and me and the husband having quite a row about it. I am usually dead on when it comes to bills and money but we are two people that are combining finances and not combining checking accounts and for the most part it's been working out well but today the bottom fell out. He is up tight about money and I am more laid back but today I am in tears and he won’t even talk to me.

Well, our financial situation has deteriorated even more.... I found out today that our joint checking account has been frozen (long story, having to do with a stop payment a client of my husband's put on a check he deposited to his business account, which ended up severely overdrawing him). I was paid today, which was direct deposited, and I can't get to the money. It will probably take a couple days to straighten out, but a good chunk of my paycheck will be gone, because they won't unfreeze the accounts until all accounts are brought back up to $0. So, they will take part of my check to bring the business account to $0.

I have a total of $6.00 in my own personal accounts. Oh, joy.

Sounds familiar! My husband and I have fought endlessly about money (or lack thereof) the last several months. Only I'm the uptight one, and he's the laid back one. We got into a huge fight over it last night.

They say that money is the #1 thing couples fight about, and I certainly believe it! Try to cheer up! You're not alone! '

EDIT: Just noticed you're in Dallas... we just moved here in March!

MONEY! It's the root of all evil. I am so tired of fighting about it. I don't even want to go home. I hate confrontation and he is dead on about it. This is why we wanted to maintain separate finances but it's not working. I just want to through my hands up and surrender. I know I am being a total wuss. I made a mistake. I will cover it. I will be eating roman noodles for a couple of weeks but this won't be last fight about money. That I am sure of. I keep reciting a line in Elizabethtown ~ IF IT WASN'T THIS IT'D BE SOMETHING ELSE. And it's helping.

By the way ~ What part of Dallas are you living? I am in Fort Worth.

I tend to hate confrontation too. What I end up doing is holding it in and holding it in, until it explodes and I end up stepping over the line and saying something I shouldn't. But I get so frustrated. I hold my tongue for fear of "offending", then when I explode, I say something that "offends", and I'm "not being supportive".

We were doing a combination of separate and combined finances. We have what we call the "house account" checking account, where household bills are paid from. Then we would pay our own stuff out of our own accounts. But when my husband lost his job, everything started going into and out of the "house account". I have virtually no money of my own anymore.

We're in Plano. We moved here from Chicago back in March. My husband had been down here on a contract job that had lasted over a year, so I got a work transfer. His contract was supposed to last at least 8 more months, with possible full-time employment, but it didn't happen. He's trying to make a go of a catering business now, but it isn't bringing much money into the house. So, he's getting ready to work another contract job.... in Chicago! That (along with all the financial problems) is what made me join the "pity party"!

Wow. Lesson in humility. I've been cured of my money "problems" selfpity now that I've heard what health insurance costs you guys. I must remember that the next time I'm feeling sorry for myself because I'll have to pay an extra 80 euros a month next year for various things.
Yeah yeah it's getting less here but it's still very luxurious compared to the American situation. I'm over it.

Same here, my problems suddenly seem small. I have a prescription that costs $25 to fill instead of the usual $10 but suddenly that seems much more minor. I'm fortunate to have the insurance!

the rising price of health insurance will give you a dose of reality very quickly...

Thankfully Deb has full coverage through her employer (At last count her medical costs covered by insurance is roughly around $600,000), Because our life savings we had stored away went "bye-bye" overnite when Deb first got sick because non-medical bills needed to be payed and having a 2 income family go to a one income family (At that time) was not a favorable thing.

Cant imagine what would have happened had she not have health insurance, She recently said she figured she would have died without her coverage.

That would be considered outrageous if it happened here. No.. That is outrageous!

Me too ~ I AM THE WORST. But last night we were able to talk about the issues at hand and were able to work them out.

I really feel for you guys, with all you've been through. You're much stronger than I.

I can relate to the money problems, since we've gone from 2 to 1 income, and have been that way on and off for the past 3 years. We've drained our savings as well, and I've had to dip heavily into our 401(k).

But we have, thankfully, had our health. That definitely puts things in perspective. I don't know if I could emotionally survive health problems on top of the financial ones.
