Yes, but when I saw the image on FOX today, the reporter warned that the images we are about to seee are very disturbing. But I still tend to agree with you.

according to a reporter for CNN (Thank God for digital satellite) they are looting stuff not for survival purposes. A person interviewed said he watched people just stealing Cadillacs left-and-right at a new car dealership in downtown N'Orleans.

About the dead woman in the wheelchair, Here is a piece I CC&P that is brutally truthful:

"I don't treat my dog like that," 47-year-old Daniel Edwards said as he pointed at the woman in the wheelchair. "I buried my dog." He added: "You can do everything for other countries, but you can't do nothing for your own people. You can go overseas with the military, but you can't get them down here."

To add to the horror alot of the bodies seen floating down the streets are reported to have bullet holes in them ,so they were murdered .A couple were reported to be girls aged 12 to 15.Really I think some of the sharks and alligators said to be swimming around down there have more humanity than some of these 'humans' that are taking advantage of this horrific disaster.

Exclamation The thing that scares me...

N'Orleans could easily be any other major city in the U.S., After a major earthquake or after a major terrorist attack.

A terrorist attack at this time is a scary, but a realistic thought.

I couldn't agree with those last two sentences anymore! We have Tsunami Relief Concerts, and we give millions and millions of dollars to their relief efforts. Granted, it was the right thing to do and for a good cause. Yet, we won't hardly be seeing any of that for our own "tsumami." It is ridiculous! We should help each other in times of need. Where is the outcry? Where are the celebrities?

Finally, the fact that people would steal from people who have nothing, but the clothes on their backs, makes me sickier than seeing the dead bodies on TV. If hell exists, these people who are looting for capital gain, not survival, are so going!!!!!!

Yes - Lincolns too, Mercuries and Subarus

(Disclaimer: I am NOT intending to make light of this tragedy at all, but you set it up so perfectly, I couldn't help it.)

Humanity is an interesting thing, isn't it? I just cannot fathom what would cause someone to shoot at hospital personnel? What are they gaining from that? How do you explain that? They have quite simply, gone crazy.

I was thinking today about that awesome aquarium in NOLA. What happens w/ the marine life? What about the zoo?

I thought about that also....my daughter and son-in-law (in the military) said they were thinking the same thing....the "kick 'em when they're down" syndrome.

In an earlier post I read something about where were the celebrities. VH1 has an article about an upcoming concert series to raise money for hurricane victims. People are trying..

I posted on the Katrina thread about the concert, but I don't think anyone noticed. I didn't want to start a whole new thread about it...it's tomorrow nite, will be on NBC and MSNBC:

NBC to hold concert for Katrina victims
Tim McGraw, Wynton Marsalis among artists to perform Friday night
Reuters
Updated: 5:47 p.m. ET Sept. 1, 2005

LOS ANGELES - Four Louisiana-born stars — Harry Connick Jr., Wynton Marsalis, Aaron Neville and Tim McGraw — will headline a televised charity concert to air live on Friday for victims of Hurricane Katrina, NBC said Wednesday. McGraw's wife, country star and Mississippi native Faith Hill, will also perform.

Plans for the one-hour, commercial-free show, called “A Concert for Hurricane Relief,” were announced as the Bush administration and Congress began working on legislation to assist in hurricane recovery efforts.

“I am heartbroken by the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina in my home state,” said country star McGraw, born in Delhi, Louisiana, in a statement. “It’s at times like these that each of us must work together to provide life-saving aid to those in terrible need.”

Joining McGraw are two New Orleans natives, trumpet player Marsalis and jazz singer Connick, whose hometown was left largely submerged in floodwaters.

In addition to music, the special will feature appearances by actors Leonardo DiCaprio, Mike Myers, John Goodman, Lindsay Lohan and Eriq La Salle, New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning, who is a Louisiana native, along other celebrities.

Katrina has claimed more than 200 lives, left tens of thousands of people homeless and caused billions of dollars in damage since slamming into the U.S. Gulf Coast Monday.

NBC aired a similar star-studded charity concert in January that raised more than $18 million for survivors of the tsunami that killed hundreds of thousands of people and left millions more homeless in South Asia and East Africa. An estimated 19.5 million viewers tuned in to some part of that broadcast on NBC and its sibling cable TV outlets.

(MSNBC is a joint venture between NBC and Microsoft.)

Both efforts were reminiscent of a two-hour telethon carried by all four major U.S. TV networks 10 days after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on America. That special raised more than $150 million in pledges.
