It just drones on and on. and on. and on. and on. and on. and on. and on. and on. and on. and on. and on.

I bought it and gave it to my mother a few days later. And she hated it, too.

It's not as good as The Rising, imo, but I still love it. I prefer that kind of music anyway. The sparse, singer and a guitar kind of stuff. I think it's a gorgeous record.

I'm pretty sure that's how I'd feel.

I'm glad you like it. I'd actually look forward to hearing your renditions of some of the songs. I just don't think it's best suited to the Springster. And, of course, I'm a whore for fast things with drums that rock. erm....so...missy gorgeous voice...do you have any renditions? I'd love to hear them.

Mikki! YAY! I hope you love Lost in Space. Do you have any of Aimee's other stuff? If not, I'd recommend Bachelor No. 2 if you like Lost in Space. I love her.

*rubs hands together*

Oh, Sharon. Ohhhh Sharon. OH Sharon. Get Sam Phillips' A Boot and a Shoe. STAT. And then, if you like that? Fan Dance. Then, if you like that? Martinis & Bikinis and Omnipop. I'm giving you the name of all four of those because you WILL love A Boot and A Shoe.

Let's see. Others... hmm. Got the new White Stripes today and I HATE it, so that doesn't go on the list. Have you heard the Feist album, Let it Die? I like it a lot. Also like the Dead 60s album a lot.

Have you ever listened to anything of Stephin Merritt's or the Magnetic Fields?

I agree with the Picaresque and Martinis & Bikinis recommendations. I would add:

Beck - Guero (and Sea Change, if you don't have that)
Interpol - Turn On The Bright Lights
Badly Drawn Boy - One Plus One Is One (or Bewilderbeast)
Ben Harper - Welcome To The Cruel World
Santa Esmerelda - The Greatest Hits
Devandra Banhart - Nino Rojo
Tracy Chapman - New Beginning
Redemption's Son - Joseph Arthur
Shawn Colvin - A Whole New You
Snow Patrol - The Final Straw
Vienna Teng - Warm Strangers, but get 'The Tower' from Waking Hour on iTunes or something and add it to this album.

Tiff, have you listened to the Reindeer Section, what's-his-name from Snow Patrol's old side project? The most recent album had like 27 of the who's who in the Scottish pop scene on it, but it's really GOOD. I love love it.

And, I can honestly say you're probably the first person to ever mention Devendra Banhart on a Fleetwood Mac board. <3

The Rising is indeed absolutely mind-boggling...but I agree the new record is "gorgeous". I couldn't think of a better word to descibe it! I love it.

Ooh. No, I didn't know he had another group. I really don't know anything about them except that Gary Lightbody's voice is like warm maple syrup and he apparently has a history of being in bands with dumb names.

Listening to clips from Son Of An Evil Reindeer on Amazon now, and I'm really liking it. Of course, anything a review calls the "lo-fi folk answer to the Traveling Wilburys," I'm probably going to dig. Thanks!

Yes, Beth Hart! You took the words out of my mouth, dudden22! Every single song on that CD is incredible.
Third that! I'm a big fan ever since some friends took me to a concert of her (that very concert is out on DVD - Live in Paradiso) a year ago.
The album is great, but live she's just amazing. I'm going to see her again in a few weeks...

Here's a site that has some live tracks for download:

www.adit.be/bh

It's great to read I'm not the only fan out there
