I love it when we agree

Fortunately and for that very reason, our Founding Fathers knew that and therefore made an explicit attempt to keep government out or validating or establishing one religion. A fact which none on the religious right seem to give a shiitte about these days.

Yes but fundamentalist Christians believe their religion is right while everyone else is wrong. This is arrogant and dangerous thinking IMO.

Again, that is why the Founding Fathers had the very fortunate mindset to bar the govt. from establish a religion. Yet, the religious right cannot stand that. Personally, I think the flock there is blinded by religious fever and cannot see that Jerry Falwell and his ilk are just in it for the money. I mean they are hardly the meek who shall inherit the Earth and the way that ilk treats the "least of us" that Christ talks about is sickening. I get that these organizations do significant charity work, but no matter what good those do, they support a regime and past regimes that have directly caused many deaths and much suffering through no health care so they can make a few million more a year and perhaps take a few more trips on their GulfStream V.

And their churches get tax exempt status while they preach politics at the pulpit...etc. We agree on this stuff, strand.

That is an interesting concept. I think religion came about as a way for man to explain the reason he is here and as a reason to explain natural events that seem aimed at one person or a society as a whole. Plus, the whole concept of bad behavior seems inate in that kids know somehow when they have done something wrong. So, I do not know if it occured naturally to society as a whole for those reasons. It also was used and is still used as a governing measure.

Did I ever tell you about when I was in Law School and we were discussing paternity and related residual rights automatically granted by the state.

Well, my professor, who rarely saw humor in ANYTHING, showed us this video doc. of these two lesbians who were a couple and their ohhhhhh so flamingly homosexual friend, the sperm donor. At one point, about six lesbians are in the room and the male donor is loping around with turkey baster in hand urging a sing along to "Turkey baster babies - turkey baster babies" (sung to the tune of "Everything you wanted but didn't get for Chistomas is on sale now at Sears" ) and the sensible gals while initially unamused - soon joined the racous fold and they soon were all hopping aroung singing that. My poor professor could not understand why the ENTIRE class was crying with laughter
