Evangelical Call to Action

The National Association of Evangelicals’ statement identifies seven areas of concern in which evangelicals should step up their social engagement:

— We work to protect religious freedom and liberty of conscience.
— We work to nurture family life and protect children.
— We work to protect the sanctity of human life and to safeguard its nature.
— We seek justice and compassion for the poor and vulnerable.
— We work to protect human rights.
— We seek peace and work to restrain violence.
— We labor to protect God's creation.

Then stop shoving religion down peoples' throats

Then get the party you put in power to pay for health care for children instead of lining Halliburton's pockets.

Which ones? Because last I checked, unless you make over $30,000 a year and have health care, ytou have no rights. Or are the human rights they refer to the ones listed in The Bible, esp. the ones about not eating shellfish.

Then get on W, who you put in power, for going to war in Iraq under false pretenses to the tune of hundreds of thousands dead.

We labor to protect God's creation.
That would be the Christian God and no other God

These people just give me the creeps with this self righteous tone when I know by history these seemingly good points are just another means for them to make money off of selling people their twisted version of Christ's good deeds on this planet.

I don't make HALF that a year....and I have ZERO health care.

Ppppfffffttt!

Shellfish, LMAO!! I don't like seafood, except fish...and I'm VERY picky about that too.

Jesus didn't own a home or hold a job, so he would be considered "homeless". Would He have been treated the way America treats our homeless?

Good question, Christy.

Sadly, I have the feeling that if Jesus were alive today, he would be treated like a third-class citizen and a liberal trouble-maker, by the very people who profess to do his work.

As I've said before, Jerry Falwell is the kind of guy who would have gleefully handed the Romans the nails...

While charging his "flock" a $100 roman coins per nail and then having a pledge to guess the number of hammer strokes - all while telling you you are going to hell if you think differently

To be fair, not all religion is this way and not all religious people, even evangelicals, are these way. Sadly, the most successful are.

I can agree to a lot of those 'area's ', but it's just a matter of how you translate that in practical terms.. they say tomato, I say tomaat..

Just what I love...a nice and friendly chat; non-controversial chat about religion.

It is an impossible feat.
People (regardless of who their "GOD" ..whatever it or he/she may be...Or on the other end of the spectrum.. Believing in nothing-(which by the way...is still a belief!) Each and every person has a thought-emotion-opinion-judgement about religion-
Always have`` since day 1 and always will`` It is human to question and human to blame--

just wanted to add a friendly aside ;) :p
