it's larger than most, I quit counting a long time ago (I've been collecting music since I was 14, Started way back in 1984)

My vinyl collection is now large...But my cassette & cd collection just grew a lot more huge with the addition of my Mother's collection (I keep her cd collection in the front room since it was stored in cd storage cases and the vinyl/cassettes are stored in the other bedroom until I can figure out where to store 'em).

As for a wall, Well I will be starting on wall #2 now, I have started to run out of room on the West wall in our bedroom (Gotta remember I just bought over 120 cassettes from eBay before my Mother passed away, Havent listened to everyone of 'em yet.)

Oh, And my Mother had a movie collection that is second to none...She had 3 storage cases filled with VHS/DVD's, And those are locked in our spare bedroom, I will guess she had about 400-500 movies.

Well back to the topic at hand, "Stevie's contract fulfillment 'Best Of' disc"...

This will be her 4th CD with the same EXACT songs as was on BD, TWH, RAL, Timespace, and Enchanted... it's just such a bad idea and It's just a money-making ploy... I can't see why she wouldn't just do re-issues?? That would much more sense, considering all of her "greatest hits" came from BD, TWH, and RAL anyway... why oh why does she handle her career so poorly at times?
Reissues would be better than this, as you said, or if she chose to put together a collection of forgotten and underappreciated songs, like, uh, my screenname! She could remaster those, and officially release some of the good demos like "The Dealer" and "Julia." That would be cool. Guess it wouldn't sell as much, though, huh? Like you said..."money-making ploy."

Default obligations.....

It is sad that Stevie gets blamed for making poor choices when maybe she had nothing to do with this choice?!?
Her label could be forcing this for all we know and she could be minimally involved. Remember the boxed set? Stevie was excited about it, even talked about it back stage at the Grammys when she was there with the MAC, a full five or six months before it came out. She sat with Ladd for two hours and uttered not one word about this thing. Perhaps Reprise is throwing it out because she hasn't gotten that far if anywhere, on her next studio album? I don't know, I just have this feeling that STevie is not too into this as she hasn't mentioned it the two times she has talked recently.
Reconsider me came out at least a month before the boxed set. Lets hope for a single.
Oh and I agree, she doesnt really need one of these and she probably knows it.

I think you might be right. It could very well be a money-making ploy on someone else's part.

Maybe you're right.. but it IS her career, so i'm sure she has some kind of say in this.. she could have had the re-issues come out instead of this and would make a whole lot more money for herself and Reprise.. not to mention how happy the fans would have been..

Well I certainly do not mind another Greatest Hits album being released, because the tracks on it will be remastered and will sound better than ever. Besides, look what happened with FM: first a Best Of-release and then the 3 remasters. So let's hope this will happen with Stevie too (she did say that remasters would be released this year...).

Yes it is her career but I do not know for sure she has a say about this. I say that because of what happened with Prince and U2. Was it U2? Some very big band that was having some type of problem with their label and a GH was put out without their involvement at all. They refused to promote the thing at all. I doubt that is what is up with Stevie but it is possible. She owes them two albums, they might have fronted her money on the contract and this is business. Its been four years since she did TISL, FM does not count towards this, she probably isnt too far along on her next studio album if she has been in Hawaii all winter and is touring this summer. Perhaps they said, hey we want some of our money back...put out a GH? The reissues are separate and will make them money but the three album deal she signed with them requires them giving her money when she commits to them. So in effect, she could OWE them money or an album. All this is speculation and based on what Stevie has said in the past. She said she hates the idea of a GH album back in the early ninties. She was excited and pushing the boxed set months before it came out. She did press for it. This new cd is due out in about two months. She had an opportunity with Ladd and the Hall of fame to push this idea on her fans. "Oh, this is fab..remixed songs"...she said nothing. She obviously had free reign with Jim to talk about whatever she wanted..not just Vegas and yet, she did not mention it. That made me think we werent even getting one honestly.

Go type in "Blondie" on Amazon and see how many greatest hits packages EMI has released to make a quick buck off of them. There can't be any less then 20 out there and they're now in the process of releasing a b-sides collection...after they released all the b-sides in a boxed set last year. I suspect that Stevie's label is doing to her what EMI has been doing to Blondie for years and years: releasing something to make some quick cash without consulting with the artist.

Sadly, I think she could be pro active in this and release a bunch of stuff that would make this more appealing to people who are on the fence about buying it. For example, she went to great pains with her boxed set and actually recorded Rhiannon by herself, which was a risky thing to do as it showed she is a passionate singer and songwriter but not a pianist. She did that for the fans IMO. So, maybe she will take an interest in this one and we will get a treat.

You do have a point, Kelly... I know for years, Prince was treated like a slave for Warner Bros. (didn't he used to write that on his face as well?)... So, it's very possible that Reprise is making her do this without her really wanting to.. I still think if she knew this was the deal, she could make the most of it and do something special with it.. like throw in some remixes (can someone say digital remixes of "I Can't Wait"?), or some B-sides... SOMETHING!
I just don't think any of us really cares to hear or pay for the same versions of "Edge", "Stand Back", and "Talk To Me" again and again and again.. and she must know this..

specifically with Cheap Trick & Guns N Roses, The GNR hits package even led to a lawsuit (Which was dismissed) being filed by the reclusive W.Axl Rose to stop its release since it was not sanctioned by his camp/handlers, It was a cheaply produced version that now seemed a waste to purchase, Especially if one already has their complete catalog on compact disc

Cheap Trick eventually released a band approved greatest hits package, Which was no different than the record company's offering of nearly the same hits.

This stinks of record company money grab. I can see why she wouldn't want to waste rarities or unreleased music on a project she clearly isn't involved in. These things are planned WAY in advance, so she has known about this for a time, I am sure. You don't just pull these things together in a month. It takes longer than that to generate and approve art work. And that is usually finished at least a month before release.

Preposterous, political, and pitiful.

Default Stevie...

Maybe that is why she is not chosing to give up any unreleased stuff...because she knows this stinks?! She knows her fans have quite a few Edges and Stand Backs..etc etc etc.
Now I am thinking we won't even get a new single out of this deal!
YUCK

I don't get why she doesn't release a live album. There's gotta be enough material recorded throughtout the years that she could pull a gem or two from each tour and make one spectacular live album. She could even throw in At Last to mix it up a bit.

A live album would be a great! Another greatest hits album...why not make it The Best of Stevie Nicks LIVE? I'm still waiting for her Bella Donna concert video to be re-released on DVD --the entire show.
