I saw reports about the U2 iPod last fall when it came out, but it was just an announcement showing it was a different color, really. Didn't give any details.

And, yes, I probably would pay extra for a Mac/Stevie iPod if such a thing were offered. I was just being snarky about the Sharpie.
I noticed you were being snarky, and that's OK. But, for big U2 fans like myself, the U2 iPod was very exciting. Especially being that I already wanted an iPod. I have the U2 iPod, and I love it. I got the Complete U2 with the $50 off - that's $100 for about 400 songs, a good deal in my opinion. And I happen to love the engraved signatures on the back. The red and black is also very cool.
I hope a Fleetwood Mac iPod doesn't come out - cause I'd be tempted to get that too.

Are the songs already on the IPod? If you have to download them I would rather just buy the CDs. I was just wondering just incase Fleetwood Mac ever decided to do this.

I don't know IPods just don't interest me.

Well, I bought one last weeekend and LOVE it. They are very useful in the sense that you can have like 5,000 songs on the 20 GB one, which is the one I have. I bought the auto adapter that broadcasts to any FM frequency. I no longer have to be limited to a CD in the changer. And - at the gym, I can go from MeatLoaf (at the gym ) to the Madison version of Sara. So, I love mine.

Ooh - that's pretty cool that it broadcasts to your radio. I've always had a single-CD player in the car (never a CD-changer) and can't even count the number of times I've almost crashed trying to maneuver a new disc into the slot.

But I'm confused about iPods & the like -- they don't use mp3s? What file format do you download and transfer to the pod?

You're already a U2 fan, so didn't you have most of these songs already? Couldn't you have just transferred what you have, and bought the tracks you didn't have, and saved even more money?

(Still confused about how iPods work -- see above post...)

I loaded all of my mp3 onto it. You have to install the I Tunes program and then copy (not transfer) all of your mp3's to it, which it will do automatically if you tell it to. So, I can use other programs like MusicMatch to play the mp3's. So, I think it plays mp3's. You can also tick a CD in the comp. and it will upload those into the ITunes format.

So it's an alternate way to listen to illegal dowloads instead of buring them to a CDR?

I have a Dell DJ and in my opinion it is better than the iPod.

For starters, the 20GB Dell DJ is selling now for $224 and it has free shipping and comes with the transmitter for your car. That is a great deal and they are now the same size as the iPod too. They only come in one color which grey but they look so much nicer than the iPod. Also they take .mp3, .wav (and some other formats) so you can upload all those bootlegged tracks or whatever to your DJ from your home computer. You can dowload this Dell Explorer program too which makes it so that you can take all the music on your DJ and transfer it to your computer. This is great because there are times when I download songs onto my DJ from my work computer and then I can go home and put those songs on my PC. Dell has great customer service too because anytime I had problems with my headphones they sent me a new pair in a couple of days and I didnt have to pay anything for them.

I just want one b/c I normally use my CD player while exercising or walking to do errands, and it's a pain in the bun, compared to having an ipod.

I take a bus to school everyday and it's only like 15 minute ride but I have to have my music. I was sick of having to listen to a CD and listen to the songs over and over. Atleast with this I can listen to any song I want to My iPod always stays in my purse at school... It goes everywhere with me

Didn't most girls in your highschool have a purse to carry their stuff in? I think I usually just had it in my bag, but sometimes a had a purse, too.

I think most girls usually carried makeup, money, pens, gum, carkeys, and things like that in their purses.
