I'm going to have to check out some of their older stuff. I think they'd be really fun to see live. Franz Ferdinand is also my latest obsession.
Float On is amazing, it's like Modest Mouse living up to their full pop potential (not that I'm a fan of that necessarily) by doing their own spin on something like "Come On Eileen"- it's so great!!

The Franz record is AMAZING! My record company has put out both Franz & MM, and it's awfully neat to have some records that I LOOOVE to be working on.

One of the guys in Franz- Bob with the blonde hair- asked me out for a drink on Saturday night :-) If they come anywhere near you live, make a point to see them. The record is great, but nowhere near as great as they are live!

Technically it is.
12" = 1 foot

I don't have that. I think it's about 10 CDs, isn't it? Like The Complete Ella Fitzgerald Songbooks, it's one that I'd love to have, but can't come close to affording at the moment.

I do have Lady in Autumn: The Best of the Verve Years, which is a 2-CD distillation of the box set.

I don't think I can do this in order.

Rolling Stones

Love them. Best party and camping music EVER.

Album - Exile On Main Street
Songs - "Bitch", "Angie"

Tom Petty

How can you not like Tom ?

Album - Damn The Torpedoes
Songs - "Finding Out", "Refugee"

Rosanne Cash

So under-rated. A real maverick and a crack songwriter.

Album - King's Record Shop
Songs - ""Why Don't You Quit Leaving Me Alone", "Seven Year Ache", "The Wheel"

David Bowie

Don't like all of his work, but love that he keeps growing musically.

Album - Tonight (his least favorite !)
Songs - "Loving The Alien", "Changes"

Concrete Blonde

This band should have been huge.

Album - Bloodletting
Songs - "God Is A Bullet", "Days And Days"

Clint Black

Excellent writer. Hella cute too. Makes me want to pull out the boots and hat, grab a cowboy and two-step the night away.

Album - Killin' Time
Songs - "Put Yourself In My Shoes", "This Nightlife", "No Time To Kill"

Heart

Their 80's material is suspect, but they even made the most of Holly Knight's hit machine writing. It is hard to beat Ann's voice and Nancy's guitar playing.

Album - Dreamboat Annie
Songs - "Mistral Wind", "Kick It Out", "Dream Of The Archer"

Trisha Yearwood

IMO, the finest living interpretive singer (she doesn't write). Impeccable taste in material, a force of nature voice, and she never oversings. A world class sense of vocal dynamics.

Album - Everybody Knows
Songs - "Little Hercules", "The Nightingale", "Wrong Side Of Memphis"

Bon Jovi

HAHAHA. My guilty pleasure. And you all thought I was so serious. Their ballads are the worst, but I can't get enough of the party songs. The concerts kick ass, and so much fun to sing along ! Great karaoke material !

Album - Slippery When Wet
Songs - "Wanted Dead Or Alive", "Keep The Faith", "Livin' On A Prayer" (of course)

Sheryl Crow

Was getting sick of her over-exposure, media whore act, but her talents are undeniable. A powerhouse musician.

Album - Globe Sessions
Songs - "Redemption Day", "The Difficult Kind", "Safe and Sound"

Honorable Mentions - Don Henley, Dolly Parton.

1. Paul Simon- Boy in the Bubble (similar to IKINW), Slip Sliding Away, You Can Call Me Al, Mother and Child Reunion, Loves Me Like A Rock
2. Heart- Magic Man, Crazy On You, Baacuda, Straight On, Heartless, Love Alive
3. CCR- All their songs are almost the same but all I love all the similar sounding songs I'll go with Smeday Never Comes and Who'll Stop the Rain as favorites
4. The Beatles- Elenor Rigby, Day Tripper, Come Together, Something, Hey Jude, Eight Days a Week, Let it Be
5. Guns and Roses- Paradise City, Sweet Child of Mine, That whistling song I can't remember the title to
6. Meatloaf- Paradise By the Dashboard Light, Bat Out of Hell, 2 out of 3 aint bad
7. Warren Zevon- Wearwolves of London, Poor Poor Pitiful Me, Prison grove, Numb as a Statue, Keep Me in Your Heart For a While, Rub Me Raw
8. Pat Benatar- Heartbreaker, Fire and Ice and Promise in the Dark
9. Led Zepplin- Stairway to Heaven and Black Dog
10. Jethro Tall- I seriously don't know the names of their songs but I know theya re really good.

She and Alanis are in the new Cole Porter bio-pic. I saw previews the other night when I saw Saved. Both women looked beautiful.

They had a huge underground following before their video for Float On but I think they're reaching a much bigger audience now. I hope their music still kicks ass. I was watching an interview with the lead singer and he seemed a bit apprehensive about having made a video.

I'll definately have to check out Franz...I think they're amazing. Any other good suggestion within the same kind of genre that are floating around right now that I may have not heard of??

How the hell could I forget Bowie?!?!?! He's one of the best in history.

I just got the 30th Anniversary Diamond Dogs and I'm digging it.
