I've finally tracked down the piece of classical music that Lindsey adapted for that beguiling opening to 'Don't Look Down' on Out Of The Cradle.
He has said a couple of times that it was by Christoph Willibald Gluck, but I'm not as familiar with Christoph's oeuvre as perhaps I should be... So I gave myself a crash course this morning, and suddenly a charming pizzicato passage leapt out! It's from Gluck's ballet, 'Don Juan ou le Festin de Pierre', movement 28, the allegretto. You can hear that it would lend itself very well to be adapted by a certain nimble-fingered guitarist: https://youtu.be/cfx3a9hUah0?si=-fpwT51qQKsk_Cog&t=60 This may be of no interest to anyone else, but I'm delighted to have solved the mystery after so long! |
