Default Why do they bother waiting?

Hello all---

In an ideal world, all five of them would be together, on the same page, contributing their remarkable talents to a new album. The sum is always better than its parts, and the chemistry that these five people create when they are together is unique.

But it's clear that not everyone in the band has the same goals. And that's okay---it's a common thing, actually.

So, why do they bother waiting any more? As others have noted, they're not getting any younger. Let Stevie do her own thing and move on. She has earned her freedom and happiness. Like Christine, she can come back if/when she's ready.

For a long time, I blamed Stevie for not supporting a new album. But it's really not her fault. She feels the way she does, and she has every right to feel that way. It's the whole band's fault for not accepting that and moving forward.

Finish the tracks that Lindsey and Christine started, and release the album. If Warner Bros. or another label isn't interested in releasing it, then they should self-release it. They are rock hall of fame members and living legends. At the very least, they should be able to earn back the production costs by self-releasing the album and promoting it using their own mailing list and social media.

The days of making millions off record sales are through, anyway. The road is where they make their living. But self-releasing the new album is the key to being artists instead of an oldies jukebox.

I've seen the arguments about how "this band doesn't owe us anything." And on one hand, that's correct. You get what you pay for, and in the past, we've paid (let's face it...we've OVER-paid) for music and concert tickets and merchandise. We got something for our hard-earned dollars/pounds/etc.

But on the other hand, this is their job. So, in a way, they DO owe it to their fans AND TO THEMSELVES to remain creative. Lately, it seems like the only outlet for their creativity (not counting solo efforts, of course) is how creative they can get with trying to separate fans from their money. And, honestly, their not exactly blazing new trails in that area, either. Sell tickets 11 months ahead of time. Tour. Sell more tickets. Tour some more. It's not rocket science.

I love all kinds of music. I have a 160GB iPod Classic that is FULL of music by hundreds of artists. But I have never encountered a band that makes it SO HARD to love them. Being a Fleetwood Mac fan isn't a joy any more...it's work.

But it will all be worth it when we have that next (last?) studio album in our hands. Amen.
