I've been browsing some Billboard archives and have found figures for the total gross of some of Stevie's shows and it got me wondering, what was her most successful tour?
The tour of '81 was too short, from what I've seen The Wild Heart and Rock a Little tours were extremely successful with large venues selling out etc. I'm pretty sure The Other Side of The Mirror tour was very successful but I'm not too sure about the '91 and '94 tours. The Enchanted and TISL tours were successful also but since then I think the venues have gotten smaller and attendance has dropped. So what do you guys think her most successful tour was? ![]() |

I have not researched official statistics but I would say Rock A Little was her most successful tour. I say this for a few reasons. It was the first and only Stevie tour that double played in several cities. It also was a world tour hitting Australia.
TOSOTM was also a world tour hitting Canada and a few dates in Europe. I saw Stevie in 1983 in the Civic Arena, Pittsburgh right after the Wild Heart was released. The arena was about 75% full. For Rock A Little it was almost sold out. TOSOTM it was also almost sold out. The 1991 tour only had about 6 thousand fans in Pittsburgh Street Angel was a short tour . The tour was supposed to extend to the south but was nixed probably because of Stevie's state of mind. I lived in West Palm Beach, FL in 1994 and Stevie was supposed to play a small venue two nights but the shows were cancelled even before they were announced. Enchanted saw her solo tour bounce back mostly because of the success of the Dance just a year earlier. Long story short... I would say RAL was the most successful tour based on ticket sales and most sold out events. Last edited by Macfan4life; 06-06-2015 at 09:07 PM.. |

Apparently, the TISL tour was supposed to be a "world tour" as well from what I remember her saying in interviews. Unfortunately 9/11 ruined that. She merely finished her already booked US dates and then called it quits.

True, and there's an early Wild Heart interview were she talks about wanting to do a few shows in Europe after the US leg was done.

And sadly, the Rock-A-Little tour did a lot of damage to her reputation. |

Take it up with Stevie because her RAL shirts said on back "Rock A Little World tour." Did she not play Canada too? Gee whiz, by your standards she never did have a world tour. You realize how silly North American tour and Australian tour look on the back of at T Shirt ![]() Just how many countries count for it to be officially a world tour? Do tell. The standard for rock n roll acts since time began usually equate multiple countries and continents a world tour. It does not mean every country in the world was played Don't blame it on me....blame it on my wild heart ![]() Last edited by Macfan4life; 06-08-2015 at 05:02 PM.. |

The term "world tour" seems to be a bit of a misnomer for many musical acts. World tours by music acts usually compromise many countries (obviously not all). Check out this world tour by The Police from the early 80's as an example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zenyatta_Mondatta_Tour Now that's a "wold" tour! Many big acts did this. That is my point to add to the discussion. Oh the Canada trick! Yes, she played Toronto, but that counts as "North America".
