Why does everything have to be so hard with this band? Stevie is my least favorite of the songwriters, but I don't dislike her work. In fact, "Landslide" is possibly my all-time favorite FM song, and I would place "Sara" and "Gypsy" in my all-time FM top 20. I think "Thrown Down" and "Say You Will" are as good as Lindsey's songs on SYW. So, the best option out there---assuming it's truly an option---is to have the full RUMOURS line-up on board for the reunion record. It's better for the chemistry, it's better for the marketing, it's better for sales. But if Stevie wants the band to wait another six months or a year, or Stevie doesn't want to participate at all, then they should move forward and finish the thing without her. So, help me out here. Didn't Stevie sort of wonder out loud about whether or not albums are still a viable product in the music industry these days? And yet, she has a new solo album out, presumably to complete her contract requirements? [Did we ever get official confirmation of that?] The band really missed an opportunity with the current tour and the reunion media coverage. They should have completed a couple of the new songs and released, at the very least, another EP, to sell during the tour. "Oh well," indeed. mattl |
