To this day I wonder what "Destiny Rules" would sound like had she simply stood up for the final take. Maybe she did, but from the documentary it doesn't look like it.

There's no doubt - she doesn't have the range she used to, but I think certain environmental factors such as sitting during recording / rehearsing have enabled her to settle into a comfort zone a little prematurely.
She was pretty moody and uninspired during these sessions, which was probably why these songs missed their potential.

Does anyone have (or know where we can find) a HIGH RES version of the "Starshine" single cover?

Starshine is #1 on iTunes Rock
and #58 overall

A great observation-and probably at least partially if not wholly correct. I love The Ledge for all the insight and opinions everyone brings to the table. I haven't posted much lately because honestly I'm underwhelmed by all that is 24 Karat gold so far BUT sometimes when I come here and see the enthusiasm it brings back some of mine. I've been at this a LONG time so it's hard to maintain my early level of enthusiasm. But Stevie feels like family now, i.e. you don't always love what they do but you always love them! Thanks everyone! Ricoh

Watching the Destiny Rules documentary, I cannot for the life of me pick up on why Stevie purports to being so miserable during the making of Say You Will. She wasn't manic & giddy the way she was during the In Your Dreams documentary, but she seemed to be having a positive experience nonetheless.

What a jumping great song......love!

Oh and I am really digging the Official LYRIC Videos for these three songs so far. It reminds me of the days listening to a song and following along with the lyric sheet from the album. Fast forward to now and the added imagery of moving video makes going along to a song with the lyrics so much more fun.

PS
I also always thought she sang "playing with fireworks"...lol
It's actually "playing with fire was"

Her IYD documentary shows her standing quite a bit. She may sit more doing the backing harmonies and such? Seems like she does a mix of sitting and standing. She was sitting when she recorded GDW. She references that famous pic of her sitting on top of an amp case or something with her tissues and Vicks inhaler. So sitting while recording certainly is not new for her.

I'm genuinely shocked that any self-respecting graphic designer worth their salt would produce something so amateurish.

I thought the lyric video was quite fun. At least standard fare for videos of that sort.

Can someone please educate me on the NEW way of releasing singles for a new record. In the old days, the first single was released about 8 weeks ahead of the new album's release. Then, you would get a NEW single released off the record every few months up to 4 or 5 singles.

For "24 Karat Gold" we've already had 3 singles released with official covers ("Dealer", "Lady" and "Starshine") and the new album isn't even out yet. I'm assuming "singles are not promoted the way they used to be. Do we really need 3 singles being released at one time?

At first I thought 'how rude' and then I watched it.

Looks like the person running Stevie's "Social Networking" accounts is getting smarter since they tweeted about "Starshine" from youtube...
