I've never seen or felt the mad love for it on fan boards or groups as I have for what seem the more obvious demos/outtakes mentioned again & again over the years (Julia, The Dealer, All The Beautiful Worlds, If You Were My Love, She Still Loves Him, The "Rhiannon" songs, etc.) "Starshine" always seemed more like an impromptu studio jam session, that never was completely fleshed out, but more of a groove & idea of a song. It feels incomplete, which underlines the obvious that we've only heard the unfinished outtakes from 1980s Bella Donna sessions. I do appreaciate that unmistakable 70s hammond B3 organ rock n' roll groove that propels the song. I can totally see this being a Enchanted-esque rocker. Ultimatley, I'll love this record if they are going in the direction of more piano & B3 organ arrangements that were the foundation of many songs on both the "Bella Donna" & "Wild Heart" records.

What will be interesting is what Stevie picked out as her favorites vs what we fans perceive as favorites. That, and obviously balancing the record with rockers, because there is a vast amount of fan favorite demos that are basically ballads. Which is why I tend to believe that "The Dealer" aka "Mistress of my Fate" will also make the cut. It's a midtempo rocker, that's a completed song in the tradional verse, chorus, verse, chorus, brigde, chorus - that with some tightening could be a real barn burner Hammond b3 rocker itself.
Funny how tastes differ. When I hear Stevie backed by Hammond Organ or honky tonk piano and belting out the likes of "Enchanted" (or "The Dealer" or "Starshine"), I wonder, often aloud, why I consider myself a fan at all. I think she comes across really gratingly on those numbers. Someone with that voice and that unusual songwriting creativity is wasted on that stuff.

Recently on the Crossroads show Stevie confirmed that went she went solo she wanted to sound as much like a female version of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers as possible so this is the sound that for better or worse that she is mostly sticking to until the end for her solo work.Part of the reason for this was surely to put some distance between her solo career and the more ethereal style of her prime era Fleetwood Mac songs .I agree with you that these are her greatest and most timeless songs with a few exceptions like Edge of Seventeen.

The ones that I know that I want are

Blue Water
Forest of the Black Roses
She Loves Him Still

There are probably tons more, but those come to mind right now. Probably Blue Water is a little old for her to do just now.

Oh, and 'You Like Me'.

It was included as one of the four bonus tracks on the Deluxe edition of Say You Will. Stevie also recorded a demo of the song during her TISL sessions.

I have always loved, loved, loved her song Cat House Blues. I wonder if Stevie has rediscovered that song on YouTube?

No sure I would want her to re-record it for fear it would be a second-rate version to the first one, much like what happened to Without You. But the circumstances would be a little different: with Dave producing it, and Stevie more invested in the process, he'd probably take it a whole new level.

Does anyone know the circumstances and timeline when she wrote and recorded the demo?

Blue Water is just an okay song. She has much better material than that. But I have to consider that Dave Stewart can likely polish a turd (not implying that Blue Water is one).

You Like Me is a lost gem. It's a rocker, and Stevie would kick it out! Unfortunately, it's not a vault song - but song she wrote that was covered by the Williams Brothers (I have their record!) She probably forgot all about it.

WOW! You really made a valid point here; one I would have never thought of because it's so nuanced.

Hopefully, at the very least, she re-wrote or enhanced the lyrics, because, as is, it's a bunch of nonsense. But this is the price that we finally paid.
