Buckingham Nicks Reunion Rumblings

Okay, all I saw was that Lindsey would like to do another record with with Stevie. I DON'T see anything remotely suggesting that it would be as Buckingham Nicks, not Fleetwood Mac.

Amid all of this talk about the aftermath of Barbara Nicks' passing, the impact on Lindsey has never come up. It's interesting that he was so moved... almost as if she was a mother-in-law of sorts. Perhaps this is related to what Stevie was intimating back in January about a tribute album to her mother. Could this be the catalyst to a simultaneous new BN album as well as a 40-year anniversary reissue of Buckingham Nicks in digital format? Will the Mayan calendar enable this? Wow, yeah. I think Lindsey just is ready for BN anyway, death or not, Stevie did say that both of her parents adored Lindsey and in talking about AHI Barbara Nicks also said that after his own father died due to heart problems, Lindsey became closer to them. Now, by the time MB died, Lindsey and Stevie weren't even living near the Nicks' anymore, but whatever the time frame, I guess there was probably a point where Lindsey did hang around her parents' house a lot.

Stevie said her dad loved to hear their demos and Javier said that when they were in Fritz while Lindsey's mom would give them lemonade when he visited, Stevie's mom would ask the boys why they weren't in Vietnam, when they came round to get her daughter. The kids probably got on her nerves, but the way she went to Lindsey's concerts when he was in town when she was in her eighties, I gathered that she loved him. I mean, she'd go to a couple of concerts per tour, not just one obligatory appearance. For his part, I guess even aside from his affection for her, her passing just brings all these feelings of mortality out. He's in the next generation to go. I can see why the event would inspire someone to write songs. I bet Stevie has written a lot of poetry herself, lately.

Yes, this reminds me of Destiny Rules when he starts crying and turns his chair away from her as she looks on and twirls her hair. He is ACTING and working her. Between him and Mick this girl gets worked like crazy. I don't know how she still manages to stand. He probably went into his attic and got some 1997 thing from the original Gift of Screws and told her he created it the night she called and told him about Barbara passing on.

As for deleting that part of the interview, if they had info in there that they didn't want to let out of the bag yet, I fully understand. At least we got a little good gossip.

I love the idea of Stevie and Linds working together again, but ,sorry to burst anyone's bubble, even if they start a project out as BuckinghamNicks, it will inevitably be turned into Fleetwood Mac. You know for a fact that Mick would show up at their doorstep with some puppy dog look on his face begging to be a part of it. And even if Stevie and Lindsey had enough willpower to say no to him, there are many more powers that control things other than Stevie and Lindsey. Stevie Nicks took the advice of her management and chose not to record a solo album in 2005, it would be even easier for them to convince her to make a BN album a Mac album. These two won't/can't rerelease the original album! At BEST they may record something "BuckinghamNicks" and then tour with Fleetwood Mac to support it.

You may be right and I like this just fine. As long as we get new music I don't care what they call themselves. Except for the fact that BN concert tickets would be cheaper for me to buy, I would prefer to have them tour with FM anyway and I want John and Mick to have money. SnL are the frontmen anyway, so I'll still see the two of them doing whatever it is they do together.

With Christine gone, I don't get why it matters to Stevie or Lindsey fans if it's Fleetwood Mac or Buckingham Nicks at this point. In my mind, BN's "Crystal" almost sounds like a demo compared to FM's. And BN's live "Rhiannon" was no match for FM. John McVie and Mick Fleetwood were the best thing to ever happen to them.

It matters to me because I'd like to see a full show with just Stevie & Lindsey & no back-up musicians. All acoustic guitar. That's a far cry from the overcrowded stage of recent Mac tours.

This would be amazing. I do agree that 'Say You Will' was essentially BN 2 with an awesome rhythm section, and also that it would possibly/probably morph into FM... or at the very least, Mick and John would 'guest' on it (which would be great!)
BUT if it's successful, it might FINALLY pave the way for BN to be released, and at the very least we might get some of those songs live (on the assumed follow up tour, I mean...)
Anyway, I'd be thrilled with something new from them - whomever it ends up being credited to!

I could even handle more new stuff in the vein of SA. That's a very nice start.

This would be ideal but this is Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham we are dealing with here. They'd play their usual set lists with maybe two new songs thrown in and we'll still grumble about it like we always do. Of course some of the fans we'll complain about us complaining and state how happy they would be if they sing whatever they want or just sing the phone book for all they'd care.

How about only 2 FM songs...

The rest B/N and selected solo pieces from each member. Imagine Bella Donna with LB on guitar, or Don't Look Down w/ Stevie.

They could really use some imagination here.

I don’t see how the whole “mini-Mac” thing is the fault of Mick or John.

The back-up singers are Stevie’s; always have been.

Lindsey’s the one who has canned backing vocals and instrumentation at his solo shows (i.e. “Down On Rodeo”), which has made its way into Fleetwood Mac shows (i.e. “Go Insane”). Also, he’s the one who wanted all of the extra musicians.

When the “Time” band toured, they had Mick, John, Billy, Bekka, Dave, and Steve Thoma (who was sitting in for Christine, who was still in the band, just not touring).

When Mick toured with Rick Vito, it was as a warts and all quartet.

It’s Stevie and Lindsey who muddy up the waters with the whole mini-Mac thing. They’re the ones who want the songs to sound just like the record live, not Mick or John.

How do you know that Mick and John are the reasons more BN songs aren't in the set? IIRC, it was John McVie's idea to record "Crystal" on the white album.

In any event, nobody has answered where it stated that whatever might be released would be as Buckingham Nicks.

It'll never happen. There's WAY more money to be made as Fleetwood Mac. If there wasn't, they would have done a "Buckingham Nicks II" album years ago.
