All My Sorrows live from Pittsburgh last fall:

[elle]

She Smiled Sweetly (demo version but it's close enough - and the only one i could find with fast search):

[Lindsfan]

This Nearly Was Mine ( with Street of Dreams ) Live recording from 1992:

[shackin'up]

Blue Letter, although I almost clicked Satisfied Mind, I love that track. Yes, and To Try For The Sun was close too....

[McTrouble]

I'm really not keen on Lindsey doing covers but I do like It Was I a lot so that got my vote.

The other two I don't mind are All My Sorrows and I Am Waiting.

Sorry elle -- not sure how I missed the other thread -- had a lot going on...

I'd love to know who had the original recording, seriously.

I love his version of I Am Waiting from the Soundstage show. Just beautiful.

2nd fave would be Blue Letter.

I dug around google and youtube the other night, but to no avail. Perhaps digging through the Ledge achives can help.

yeah - finally a vote for IAW!

and so many of us seem to have a soft spot for Satisfied Mind, but unfortunately still no votes... some of those other covers are just so sublime.

of course, September Song deserves no votes (although i don't think it's a bad cover, just don't like the song much).

maybe i should've made some of these polls with top 2 choices per person ... but in those polls results usually seem to turn out even more entangled.

Usually if I have 6 or more choices, I do the poll multi-choice, asking Ledgies to choose 2 songs. However the system allows Ledgies to vote for as many choices as he/she wants. So it can be hard to enforce. Plus multi-choice polls tend to be more exciting or entangled as you said.

I like for the songs to have to work hard going through several rounds to ensure that it really deserves the final top spot. That away nobody complains with a "How on earth did 'song xyz' when this contest?!?"

You could always have the top winners from each poll move on to another round, while still doing them as single-choice.

[elle]

thinking of closing this poll soon... some time tomorrow morning probably.

[elle]

To Try For The Sun - 9
Blue Letter - 7
Love Minus Zero/No Limit - 6

if poll results stay as they are now, To Try For The Sun will be moving into the next round as a favorite cover song by LB.

Not on the list, but I freaking love his cover of "Big Yellow Taxi".

ha - another one we forgot to include!

thanks for that. i will add it to the list of songs in discussion thread and try to possibly include it in one of the other polls.

if you go to the discussion thread [called LB song lists] and see what else is missing there, please add on!

[GypsySorcerer]

I'll go with To Try For the Sun, with Blue Letter a close second.

And Big Yellow Taxi is great, too.
