If she looked wild eyed for the I Can't Wait video it only serves the song better, since it's such a wild song. I never thought she looked coked up in it. Howerver, the Talk To Me video... I always thought she looked a mess in the closeups. I mean, she looks so elegant doing that walking thing with her backup dancers and twirling in that black dress, then they cut to her in that gray thing and her hair looks like a long shag and she's got this dopey smile while she's lip synching to this really heartfelt song. That was always the one video that I loved certain shots and absolutely hated others. And I'm not usually that judgmental about anything Stevie has done but you can really see how coked up she was there.

Years and years ago I had a book called The Rolling Stone Book of Music Videos or something like that and I remember an entire section (it may have even been a whole chapter) devoted to the making of the Civil War Stand Back video. And I remember as a teen thinking I'd never get to see it, and ten years later in the 90's I'd gotten a really washed out copy on a VHS bootleg and was thrilled to death. And of course whenever Crystal Dreams came out with the commentary I was in heaven. But I remember reading all about it back then and just being enthralled with this video that was never going to be seen. I wonder if there are copies of that book floating around. I got rid of mine in the late 90's. I kind of wish I'd saved it now.
