CD's only get scratched if you're careless! I have hundreds of cds, many that I've had for many, many years and they're fine. I just make sure to put them back in the box immediately after playing. They go back in the correct box, with the text facing the way it's supposed to so you can read it. It''s something I'm really anal about. I can't stand to see cds in the wrong boxes or sitting out on the shelf/on top of the stereo when the box is right there! God forbid people leave them shiny side down too... aaarghhh! I'm the same with dvds.

I also just wouldn't have the storage space for duplicating my collection, and since that's one of the reasons people want to get rid of the format (boo!) then you'd best not tell 'them' you do this!
