![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Stevie Nicks at the Fillmore on Saturday night. Saturday: Stevie Nicks Thanks Fans for Her Time at the Fillmore Stevie Nicks October 8, 2011 The Fillmore By Tamara Palmer Photos by Christopher Victorio SF Weekly http://blogs.sfweekly.com/shookdown/...s_throws_a.php Better than: Unicorn sightings. Stevie Nicks spent quite a few moments of Saturday night's performance at the Fillmore marveling that she was onstage at the Fillmore, the place where she once attended concerts by the likes of the Byrds and Jimi Hendrix and dreamed about her own possibilities. "If you wish on the stars," said the singer and Peninsula native, "you might get a satellite!" Nicks left no doubt that she appreciated her time there as much as the approximately 1,500 fans that had managed to get inside. And she didn't keep anyone waiting to hear a classic, starting off with "Stand Back" and weaving a set of what she dubbed "all the wonderful old things and some new songs that deserve to be played." The new songs, including "Secret Love," "For What It's Worth," and "Soldier's Angel," came from In Your Dreams, her critically acclaimed seventh studio album and first since 2001's Trouble in Shangri-La. It's also an extended collaboration with producer Dave Stewart, best known as half of the Eurythmics. She offered extra background when it came to songs like "Soldier's Angel," inspired by visiting with wounded war veterans, and served them all up with as much polish as her seasoned anthems from "Rhiannon" to the closing "Edge of Seventeen." Nicks cut a slimmer shape from recent years, and her long blond hair appeared flawless against two well-tailored outfits, one in mystical black and the other in corseted white. Both had the benefit of high-heeled black boots. She simply looked amazing, and was pitch-perfect throughout. She didn't even appear dizzy after her trademark slow twirls. Nicks made two major dedications during her show: "Landslide" was offered up for her friend, comedienne Kathy Griffin, who waved at the crowd from the balcony. And Nicks honored her vocal coach, Steve Real, who came out to duet on "Leather and Lace." We'd never seen anyone shout-out their vocal coach during a concert, let alone with such affection and obvious gratitude. But gratitude was certainly the overriding emotion felt that night from Stevie Nicks and her audience. Critic's Notebook Personal bias: I once got to meet Nicks and touch the shawl known as the "sleeves of 'Rhiannon'" in her dressing room. Random detail: One poor lady fainted and collapsed before Nicks even took to the stage. We're not sure if she was overwhelmed by her health or the show that was about to happen, but we felt for her and the sad look on her face as she was wheeled out of the main room. By the way: Nicks also performed a second show at the Fillmore on Sunday night (Oct. 9).

Fillmore 10/8/2011 show in .wav format. This should play on most computers.
The program I use converts flac files first to wav, so if anyone still needs mp3, let me know. This link is to the folder and am half way done at this point. Uploading in reverse order so they are correct in sequence in the folder. http://www.mediafire.com/?1o191iw11wfsb

Is that Rhiannon outfit plum/red or just the way the lights are hitting it? Was just curious.

I see. Props for her switching things up. I couldn't be a star and wear the same things night after night. On one hand it's understandable her wanting to keep things as simple as possible while on the road, on the other hand you sometimes feel she no longer cares about dressing up differently for herself, for her fans. And she owns such fabulous clothes.

Just now getting a chance to log in after a super exciting/hectic night! As many others have already stated, the show was awesome!
* I looooved the feathers and the red dress! Totally unexpected (but it's these little things that fans freak out over) * I'm over the dust ruffle skirts already. They need to join the frankenboks waaaay at the back of her closet. Bring back the layers Stevie!!! * Apparently she forgot where she went to college. "San Mateo"?! Try about 30 mins south of that. My bf is a CSU San Jose student, and it's one of the few trivia bits he knows so he actually caught it before me. When he said something to me the obnozious lady behind us tried to correct him; "Um, I think she knows where she went to school fellas!" ![]() * All of my pics/videos turned out like sh*t! * I want "Sorcerer", "FFG", "IAF" and "OTR" back in the set As much as I love the new stuff (and that she's actually playing it!) I was surprised how much I missed those 4.* "Love Is" made me tear up a bit, and I have no idea why... ![]()

Hello all! Just got back home, feeling the Stevie comedown. It was such an incredible weekend!
First, thanks to all who made those 28 hours in line actually pleasant. Ed, Anna, Curtis, MiMi, Amy, Christopher, Shawn, Maria, Marlene, Sarah (Syrah--the Ledge's newest member!), Stephanie, Emily, and all the others I had the pleasure of seeing--you are all absolute gems. There's nothing like Stevie-ing out with a bunch of people as crazy as you are. Part of it was probably just being front and center both nights, but I was totally blown away by her performances. The conundrum, as it often is: what is there to say about a show that good? Not much. Which is a good thing, actually, because I have a mountain of schoolwork to do for tomorrow. Suffice to say, she was a force. Especially the second night--when she came out in a red dress, with turquoise Janis feathers in her hair, it was just perfect. Thoughts/ highlights/ lowlights/ "Oh, Stevie!" moments: - Michael Grimm's "Stay With Me": Such a wonderful surprise when Stevie's band came to the stage for this one. - Night 1 included the best GDW wail I've heard. - Some changes in Moonlight, I think. It sounds closer to the album version. - Is there anything more fun than doing the FWIW dance? I think Stevie got a kick out of it! - Stevie forgot Lenny's name! And even after Carlos said it, she sort of went, "Lenny...Lenny...[finally] LENNY CASTRO!" Oh, Stevie. - There's nothing like seeing her in such a small venue, surrounded by other hard-core fans. I'm so proud of her for doing it! (Someone must be listening to us, right?)

I believe Lindsey's brother (and maybe Lindsey too!) swam for the CSM swim team. Fritz played small shows at Cañada College in Redwood City too, about 5 miles south of San Mateo.
